Continuing traditional values with a technological mindset.
The Nhan Dan newspaper has just announced the launch of the "I Love Vietnam So Much" project - an initiative applying digital technology combined with NFC chips (short-range wireless connectivity) to spread love for the homeland and promote historical, cultural, and tourist destinations throughout the country. This is a meaningful gift to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the Unification of the Country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The "I Love Vietnam" project opens up a digital tourism exploration community where every citizen can become a "tourism ambassador" through activities such as: receiving a digital certificate upon completing a exploration station in a province or city; sharing photos and videos of experiences on social media with the hashtag #YeuLamVietNam; and inviting international friends to join the journey of discovering Vietnam through technology.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association , stated that the "I Love Vietnam So Much" project is part of a larger vision to transform media platforms and digital data into a means of connecting people with cultural and tourism values. "I Love Vietnam So Much" is not only an experiential journey but also a tool for digital citizenship education, encouraging young people to understand, appreciate, and continue traditional values with a technological mindset.
"I Love Vietnam So Much" is a tour guide and host that can provide a wealth of information, integrating Blockchain technology and artificial intelligence (AI). This information is not static but is updated over time because, through AI, the application learns from previous interactions and provides personalized assessments and guidance.
After more than four months of implementation, tens of thousands of successful "check-ins" and photo sharing by tourists have taken place at the wirelessly connected chip-equipped billboards across the country. From sacred landmarks like the Lung Cu flagpole in Ha Giang, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi, to Ca Mau Cape - the southernmost point of the country, these smart interactive stations have been established.
The effectiveness of digital transformation
With the many conveniences offered by technology, the trend of tourists using digital platforms, websites, and social media to find information, book tours, hotel rooms, and purchase airline, bus, train, and attraction tickets is becoming increasingly popular. Thanks to the support of digital media, tourism promotion has become more innovative and creative, reaching a wider and broader range of customers. In particular, travelers frequently leave comments, reviews, and feedback on services and tourism, and widely share photos and videos of their "check-ins" at tourist destinations. This interaction helps the tourism industry better understand customer needs and make changes to improve customer satisfaction.
For tourism, digital transformation is paramount, inevitable, and objective, a key factor for rapid and sustainable tourism development in the future. Recognizing the importance of digital transformation in tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has created an important legal framework, approving and promulgating projects such as the Tourism Industry Database System Project; and the Project on Applying Industry 4.0 technologies to develop smart tourism, promoting tourism as a key economic sector…
In recent times, thanks to important policies and directives from the Government and the Prime Minister, and the smooth coordination among ministries, sectors, and localities, the digital transformation of tourism has seen significant progress. Many smart tourism models and tourism products with modern technological content have been introduced at numerous tourist destinations in various localities across the country. Digital transformation, viewed from a tourism perspective, has yielded many clear and tangible results.
Mr. Hoang Quoc Hoa, Director of the Tourism Information Center, Vietnam National Tourism Administration, stated that the Center has implemented the development of a smart tourism ecosystem to support state management, tourism business, and enhance visitor experience, aiming for synchronized and unified application throughout the industry. Many online exhibition projects, such as "Vibrant Vietnam" on the world's leading online cultural museum platform "Google Arts & Culture," have been launched, contributing to spreading the attractiveness of Vietnamese culture, art, and tourism. The "Wonders of Vietnam" project, featuring 35 online exhibitions and over 1,300 photos of famous tourist destinations, heritage sites, natural landscapes, culture, and cuisine of Vietnam, was jointly implemented by various units. These exhibitions have honored natural landscapes, tangible and intangible heritage recognized by UNESCO in localities such as Quang Binh, Ninh Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, and Quang Nam…
In 2024, the tourism industry experienced a spectacular recovery, welcoming 17.5 million international visitors and an estimated 110 million domestic visitors. Total revenue from tourism was estimated at approximately 840 trillion VND, a bright spot in socio-economic development. In the first three months of 2025, Vietnam's tourism industry recorded many positive results, with the total number of international visitors in the first quarter of 2025 reaching over 6 million, and domestic tourists also reaching approximately 35.5 million, contributing to a total tourism revenue of approximately 242 trillion VND, a significant increase compared to the same period last year. The tourism industry strives to welcome and serve 22-23 million international tourists and 120-130 million domestic tourists in 2025.
