(QBĐT) - Quang Binh is transforming itself with a new look and a wealth of attractive tourism experiences. Beyond its famous landmarks, Quang Binh tourism offers novel discoveries, from nature excursions to cultural spaces rich in unique characteristics. From the unique river tour route to the rustic Dung Village, each destination contributes to the distinct appeal of Quang Binh tourism this spring.

Going back in time to the heritage

In early 2025, the Phong Nha-Ke Bang Tourism Center officially launched a 10km river tourism route connecting three famous destinations: Phong Nha, Chay River, and Dark Cave. This journey offers tourists the experience of exploring majestic nature, contributing to the promotion of sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism.

Beginning the journey, visitors will travel upstream along the Son River for about 5km, immersing themselves in the peaceful countryside scenery with majestic limestone mountains and simple houses nestled amidst poetic nature. The first stop is Phong Nha Cave, home to a magnificent system of stalactites and stalagmites created by nature over hundreds of millions of years. If wishing to continue exploring, visitors can choose Tien Son Cave, known as a "heavenly paradise" with its mystical and enchanting beauty.

After admiring the beauty of the caves, the journey continues with a cruise on the picturesque Chay River. Along both banks, charming little suspension bridges span the emerald green water, creating a picturesque scene that is both peaceful and poetic. At lunchtime, the boat stops at Dark Cave restaurant to enjoy a platter of grilled chicken—a local specialty with the distinctive flavors of the mountains and forests.

The highlight of the trip is the adventurous activities at Dark Cave. Those who love thrills can try the 400m zipline, swinging across the Chay River for an exhilarating experience. In addition, kayaking, water sliding, or challenging bridge jumping also offer new and exciting experiences.

Adam, a tourist from Australia, shared: “Throughout the journey, I was constantly amazed by the scenery. The distant mountains shimmered in the brilliant sunset. Phong Nha is truly the most peaceful destination I have ever visited in Vietnam. It's not too crowded, the scenery is spectacular, the people are friendly, and especially, the nature here completely astonished me.”

According to Mr. Hoang Minh Thang, Director of the Phong Nha-Ke Bang Tourism Center, the combination of nature exploration, river cruises, and adventure sports experiences has created a unique appeal for the Phong Nha-Chay River-Dark Cave tourist route. This river tourism route will offer new experiences for tourists, while also aiming for sustainable tourism development, in line with the "Net Zero tourism" orientation – a model aimed at balancing carbon emissions. Using electric-powered boats and encouraging outdoor activities that do not harm the environment will be concrete steps in this strategy. Not only does it offer an impressive journey, but this model also affirms Quang Binh's steps in developing green and sustainable tourism.

Experience Dung Village

Located less than 15 minutes from the center of Dong Hoi, the Lang Dung Tourist Area (Thuan Vinh hamlet, Thuan Duc commune) vividly recreates the rural landscape of North Central Vietnam with its simple and rustic beauty. Amidst the modern pace of life, this place acts like a "time machine," transporting visitors back to their childhood memories and peaceful days in Quang Binh province. Stepping into Lang Dung, visitors can easily feel the authentic Vietnamese atmosphere with its winding bamboo bridges, meandering village paths shaded by green bamboo, and simple thatched houses nestled amidst nature.

The highlight of the tourist area is Bau Dung Lake, with its crystal-clear water reflecting the clouds and sky, dotted with bamboo bridges reminiscent of rural markets or kite-flying afternoons of childhood. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Mai, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: “The space here is recreated in a rustic and authentic way, from the thatched-roof houses to the small pond and the simple, traditional country food. Coming here, I feel like I'm reliving my childhood days, when I used to run barefoot on the village roads, breathing in the scent of freshly harvested rice.”

Beyond simply recreating the atmosphere, Dung Village offers visitors unique cultural experiences of the North Central Vietnamese countryside. The village market here vividly recreates the image of street vendors carrying their wares, trays of leaf-wrapped cakes, baskets of sweet potatoes and cassava... all displayed in the most authentic way. Market vendors in traditional Vietnamese blouses and conical hats, their familiar calls evoking childhood memories with grandmothers and mothers. Simple, traditional dishes like banh loc, banh beo, banh nam, and taffy candy, imbued with the flavors of Quang Binh, will awaken memories for generations.

In spring, Quang Binh also offers many unique "check-in" spots such as vibrant flower gardens and community tourism destinations. Those who love spiritual tourism can visit Hoang Phuc Pagoda, Than Dinh Mountain, the Cave of Eight Young Volunteers… and participate in many distinctive spring festivals.

Beside a tranquil lake, beneath rustic thatched roofs, Dung Village vividly portrays a picture of the old Vietnamese countryside. Mr. Vu Xuan Hai, representative of Dung Village Tourist Area, shared: “We want to create a space where the younger generation can better understand the Vietnamese village lifestyle, while also helping the older generation rediscover memories of the past. Quang Binh is a land rich in cultural identity, but in the modern era, many traditional values are gradually being forgotten. Dung Village is not only a tourist attraction, but also a place that connects old values, contributing to diversifying the local tourism products.”

Instead of chasing after luxurious resort models, Lang Dung focuses on authentically recreating rural life. From rows of betel trees, wells, haystacks to earthenware jars, everything evokes memories of a tranquil countryside. If one day you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and rediscover the simple values of Vietnamese rural life, Lang Dung is the ideal destination. It's not only a place to explore, but also a space to return to, to remember, to love, and to better understand Quang Binh, a place rich in identity – a homeland that is not just a place of the past, but an inseparable part of one's soul.
