Nestled on a hilltop in the picturesque Tuscany region, San Gimignano possesses an ancient and romantic beauty, captivating visitors with its unique historical and cultural values. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990, San Gimignano was once a bustling commercial and financial center in the 13th and 14th centuries.

At that time, the city did not belong to any single family but functioned as a miniature republic, where many wealthy families prospered through the textile industry. To showcase their status and wealth, each family built its own tower, transforming San Gimignano into a unique architectural tapestry of 72 towering structures.

However, after many historical upheavals, San Gimignano gradually lost its independence and many towers were destroyed. Today, only 14 towers remain standing. Among them, Torre Grossa – the tallest tower in the city – is a prominent symbol of San Gimignano, attracting visitors with its spectacular views of the entire city and the picturesque Tuscan valley.

A trip to San Gimignano would be incomplete without sampling Vernaccia white wine, a renowned specialty of Tuscany. Made from Vernaccia grapes, this wine boasts a delicious, refined flavor and is often paired with fish, seafood, white meats, or desserts.
