On May 21st, the DIFF 2026 organizing committee announced that construction of the stage and grandstands is being carried out urgently to ensure completion before the opening night on May 30th.
According to reports, the grandstand area for the festival, with thousands of seats, has essentially completed its main structure. Final installations, technical checks, and safety reviews are being expedited to ensure the best conditions for residents and tourists to watch the fireworks festival.
Workers are working diligently on the remaining items to meet the deadline.
The organizers stated that the DIFF 2026 grandstands were designed according to strict technical standards, with all stages undergoing rigorous safety inspections. The sound and lighting systems at each location were also carefully calculated to ensure that spectators could fully enjoy the artistic performances and the dazzling fireworks displays in the Da Nang sky. A special highlight of DIFF 2026 lies in its stage, which is considered to be the largest in scale and utilizes the most modern performance technology ever seen. With the theme "Danang - United Horizons - Connecting Horizons," this year's stage is designed based on the idea of a "crossroads of unity," inspired by the image of horizons drawing closer together. The performance space is organized into three levels with curves that mimic connecting bridges. The illuminated dome above expands as a symbol of aspiration, while the water below reflects light softly, creating visual depth and emphasizing the interplay between tradition and modernity. The main stage has a total width of approximately 100 meters and an area of nearly 1,200 square meters, including a performance area of 50 square meters, large enough to accommodate large-scale scenes.
The modern stage mechanical system, featuring a giant lifting dome and a combination of LED, laser, and multi-layered lighting, has been put into operation. The highlight is the central lifting dome, over 40 meters wide and more than 10 meters high, considered the "backbone" of the entire stage.
Five mechanical arch systems can operate independently or synchronously, continuously transforming the performance space according to each act. The central arches can complete their raising and lowering cycles in less than 70 seconds, allowing for flexible real-time scene transitions, promising to create spectacular grand spectacles for the audience. The opening night of DIFF 2026, themed "Nature," will take place on the evening of May 30th, beginning with a competition between the host team Da Nang (Vietnam) and the team from China, promising a dazzling light show on the banks of the Han River.
