Affirming the role of intellectuals and artists in the development of Ho Chi Minh City

VHO - Ho Chi Minh City organized a workshop to promote the role of intellectuals and artists, proposing solutions for rapid, sustainable development and integration in the new period.

On the morning of August 29, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a workshop on "Promoting the role of intellectuals and artists to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City in the new period".

This is an opportunity for the City to evaluate the role and contributions of intellectuals and artists and listen to suggestions to effectively exploit these resources in the new development stage.

In her opening speech, Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the City Party Committee, emphasized: After 50 years of liberating the South and unifying the country, Ho Chi Minh City has become a special urban area, a major center of economy , culture, education, science and technology, a hub of international exchange and a driving force for development of the key economic region of the South.

Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, spoke at the Workshop.

Through the process of innovation and integration, the City has always been dynamic, creative, and achieved many outstanding achievements in economy, culture, and society. Contributing to these common achievements is the important role of intellectuals, scientists , and artists in many fields.

Many individuals have become shining examples in research, innovation, and community commitment, reaching regional and international levels, loved by the public and honored by international friends.

According to Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy, 2025 is of special importance, being the year of streamlining the apparatus, the final year of the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025, and at the same time preparing for the 13th Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, towards the 14th National Party Congress.

Many passionate opinions were presented at the forum.

Ho Chi Minh City requires rapid, sustainable development, deep integration, strong digital transformation, and the construction of a modern, smart urban model. That requires maximum mobilization of all resources, including intellectuals and artists - those who are considered the core force of development.

Opinions at the workshop focused on many major groups of issues. First of all, the role of intellectuals, scientists and artists in building Ho Chi Minh City in the new period, along with solutions to promote these resources to achieve development goals by 2035.

Another important content is the current situation and solutions to attract high-quality human resources, especially young intellectuals, to meet the development requirements of the City in the new context.

Intellectuals and artists hope that Ho Chi Minh City will synchronously implement many solutions to help the city develop quickly and sustainably.

Delegates also proposed solutions to create breakthroughs in the investment environment to attract scientific, technological and cultural resources, and strongly develop the creative ecosystem.

The workshop focused on the development orientation of knowledge economy, digital technology, and digital society as a foundation to promote rapid and sustainable growth for the City.

Along with that are solutions to improve the material and spiritual life of the people, ensuring harmony between economic development and cultural and social development.

Many opinions emphasized the need to promote the core role of artists in building and protecting national culture, literature and art, contributing to the comprehensive development of the city's culture and people.

Delegates also proposed perfecting the policy of training human resources in the field of literature and art, creating a breakthrough in developing the team of artists in the new period.

In addition, solutions to enhance international cooperation and exchange, creating conditions for artists to access new and progressive trends and literary and artistic products in the world, etc. are also proposed.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the workshop, Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, said that the workshop was held in the context that the entire City Party Committee is focusing on implementing the goals and targets of the Resolution of the 11th City Party Congress (term 2020-2025), resolutely implementing the resolutions of the Central Committee, and at the same time summarizing creative and effective models to continue to develop strongly.

Mr. Duong Anh Duc emphasized that, along with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City is the locality with the largest number of experts, scientists, intellectuals and artists in the country.

Over the past years, the City has implemented many solutions to attract, honor, and create conditions for this force to contribute, considering this a key task in building a strong Party organization, contributing to political stability and promoting socio-economic development.

“In the process of building and developing the country in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, intellectuals and artists always play a pivotal role and are invaluable assets of society. With the position of the largest economic, cultural, scientific and technological center in the country, the City is proud to have a large, talented and dedicated team.

However, maximizing the creative potential of this team in the context of deep international integration and the 4.0 Industrial Revolution is posing many new requirements, while also revealing challenges that need to be thoroughly recognized and resolved," Mr. Duong Anh Duc emphasized.

The Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the City Party Committee will summarize the results of the workshop and advise the Standing Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to issue mechanisms and policies to promote the role of intellectuals and artists of Ho Chi Minh City in the new period.
