Inauguration of May Chai bridge connecting Hai Phong city with Vu Yen island

May Chai Bridge and the access roads on both sides of the bridge belong to the Vu Yen Island Amusement, Recreation, Housing and Ecological Park Project, shortening the travel time from Hai Phong city center to Vu Yen Island to only 5 minutes.

On the morning of August 19, together with the whole country, simultaneously starting and inaugurating 250 projects to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, Hai Phong city organized 6 online bridges to start and inaugurate 9 projects in the area.

Attending the central bridge point - the bridge point for the inauguration of May Chai bridge and the access roads on both sides of the bridge were Central Party Committee members: Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong city.

Also attending were comrades: Nguyen Danh Huy, Deputy Minister of Construction; Le Ngoc Chau, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee; Le Anh Quan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; Dao Trong Duc, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chief of the City Party Committee Office and comrades of the City Party Committee, leaders of local departments, agencies, etc.

Comrade Le Ngoc Chau, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee spoke at the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony of the projects.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Le Ngoc Chau, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Committee, emphasized that Hai Phong City's simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration of 9 projects and works is an event of special significance, demonstrating the determination and strong aspiration of the Port City in the new development period.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee stated that from July 1, 2025, Hai Phong City will merge with Hai Duong Province and switch to a two-tier local government model. This event opens up a new, vast development space, while also posing higher requirements and responsibilities for the entire political system.

In the context of many difficulties and challenges, with the attention of the Party and State leaders; Central departments, ministries and branches; comprehensive and timely leadership of the City Party Committee; supervision and companionship of the People's Council; drastic, dynamic and creative direction and management of the City People's Committee; and the joint efforts and consensus of the business community and people, the city's socio-economy in the first 7 months of 2025 has achieved many outstanding results.

Major socio-economic indicators have all met and exceeded the plan. Hai Phong's investment and business environment has been increasingly improved. In particular, the city successfully organized the 2025 Investment Promotion Conference, granted investment registration certificates to 32 projects and signed 7 investment cooperation memorandums with a total registered and committed capital of over 15.6 billion USD.

Emphasizing the significance and important role of 9 key projects and works in many fields that were started and inaugurated on August 19, the Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that these projects not only contribute to completing the infrastructure of transportation, aviation, healthcare, culture, and social security but also create new momentum to promote growth, expand urban development space and improve the quality of life of the people.

He acknowledged the investors; consultants; contractors who have promoted the spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain, working in 3 shifts, 4 shifts" through holidays and Tet to speed up progress and ensure the quality of the projects. At the same time, he commended the departments, branches and localities for their close coordination and creating favorable conditions for the projects to start and be inaugurated on schedule.

With the tradition of “Cultural Eastern Land – Heroic Port Land”, along with the spirit of innovation and creativity, the Chairman of the City People’s Committee believes that the projects started and inaugurated on this occasion are both vivid evidence of the city’s aspirations to rise up; a solid foundation to build Hai Phong into a civilized, modern, smart, and sustainably developing Green Port City; making worthy contributions to the overall development of the country.

The construction of May Chai Bridge (Royal Bridge) and the approach roads on both sides of the bridge has a total investment of more than 2,000 billion VND, nearly 2.2km long, 21m wide with 4 lanes.

The construction of May Chai Bridge (Royal Bridge) and the roads on both sides of the bridge are part of the Vu Yen Island Entertainment, Housing and Ecological Park Project (Vinhomes Royal Island) implemented by Vingroup. With a length of nearly 2.2km, a width of 21m, and 4 lanes, the bridge starts on Vu Yen Island and ends at Le Thanh Tong Street, shortening the travel time from the island to the city center from 50 minutes to 5 minutes.

May Chai Bridge is also a new symbol of Hai Phong with a special design of 2 towers at the bridgehead creating a curved arch shape that evokes the image of a bird spreading its wings and flying high, while creating a "World Gateway Bridge" as a friendly invitation to investment and business opportunities, expressing Hai Phong's desire for development.

On the morning of August 19, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), the Government organized an online groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony for 250 projects at 80 locations nationwide. The People's Committee of Hai Phong City selected 9 projects in the area to organize groundbreaking and inauguration, including:

1. Inauguration of the May Chai Bridge Project and the access roads on both sides of the bridge.
2. Groundbreaking ceremony of T2 Passenger Terminal Project - Cat Bi International Airport.
3. Groundbreaking ceremony of the resettlement area construction project for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project.
4. Commencement of the project to invest in building a traffic route connecting National Highway 17B with Dinh Bridge.
5. Commencement of the investment project to build a bridge over the Thai Binh River and the access road of the beltway I section from provincial road 391 to provincial road 390C.
6. Commencement of the project to build the National Highway 37 bypass connecting Thong Nhat Bridge, National Highway 37 with Ring Road I.
7. Groundbreaking ceremony for the project to build a martyrs' temple and cultural park.
8. Inauguration of the Dong Viet Bridge approach road construction project connecting to National Highway 37.
9. Inauguration of Hai Duong Maternity Hospital Phase II Construction Investment Project.
