Statue of poet Yen Lan
According to Mr. Mai Xuan Tien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Nhon Town, exactly 25 years ago, on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month in 1998, poet Yen Lan left us to return to the eternal world. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of poet Yen Lan's death, the People's Committee of An Nhon Town presented the Yen Lan Memorial House with his portrait statue.
This work was completed thanks to the contributions of philanthropists in An Nhon town, crystallized from the talent and love for the late poet Yen Lan of sculptor Le Trong Nghia (in Binh Dinh).
"With this gift, the People's Committee of An Nhon Town hopes that the Yen Lan Poet Memorial House will have more souvenirs. In the coming time, we hope that the memorial house will not only preserve the images, artifacts and works of the poet Yen Lan but also continue to collect and add more relics and artifacts to become a meaningful destination for artists and poetry lovers across the country to come and offer incense and learn about the life and works of the poet Yen Lan", said Mr. Mai Xuan Tien.
Sculptor Le Trong Nghia said he spent a lot of time researching the literature, career, soul, and personality of poet Yen Lan before making the statue. Poet Yen Lan's life and career were not smooth, so sadness is imprinted on his face and eyes. However, his poems are very beautiful, very strong, bright, not at all painful or sentimental.

"The images of him in his later years made him look haggard and quite weak, so I didn't choose him. I used this statue as a reference from a photo of him when he was just over 60 years old, holding the position of Honorary President of the Binh Dinh Province Literature and Arts Association, around the year 90 of the last century. This portrait was cut from a photo taken with many people, so it was very blurry when enlarged, but it was enough for me to recognize his still-full energy, especially his poems during this period were very sublime," said sculptor Le Trong Nghia.
In the poetry and music program Poet Yen Lan with her homeland , artists listened to the recitation of many typical poems by poet Yen Lan such as: Ben My Lang, Canh mang trong nang, Binh Dinh 1935 ...
Mr. Mai Thin, Chairman of the Binh Dinh Province Literature and Arts Association, said that poet Yen Lan's real name is Lam Thanh Lang, born in An Nhon Town, Binh Dinh. He composed poetry from an early age and together with Han Mac Tu, Che Lan Vien, and Quach Tan formed the famous group of poets "Ban Thanh Tu Huu".
After the August Revolution succeeded, poet Yen Lan participated in the revolution, worked in culture and arts in Binh Dinh, then gathered in the North and worked at the Literature Publishing House. After the country was reunified, he returned to his hometown Binh Dinh, continued to compose and participate in local culture and arts with the title of Honorary President of the Binh Dinh Provincial Literature and Arts Association.
In addition to the poems written before 1945 that soon made her name in the literary world and the poetry collections that won the State Prize for Literature and Arts such as: The Lights (1957), I Come, I Love (1965), Rose Basket (1968) written during her years in the North, Yen Lan left behind a large volume of more than 500 quatrains written in her last years in her hometown of An Nhon.
