Dak Nong has just sent a dispatch to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Training requesting to recruit more than 1,000 teachers for the 2023-2024 school year. Currently, the number of positions assigned each year is not enough to ensure teaching and learning.

It is expected that in the 2023-2024 school year, Dak Nong province will have 90 kindergartens with nearly 27,000 students; 132 primary schools with nearly 75,000 students; 87 secondary schools with nearly 48,000 students; 34 high schools with nearly 26,000 students. This number of students is higher than the number calculated on May 31, 2023.

This is the number of staff needed for the province to organize teaching and learning well according to the new general education program and meet the increase in students in the coming time.

Recruitment sources are scarce, many localities lack several thousand teachers for the new school year.

Recruitment sources are scarce, many localities lack several thousand teachers for the new school year.

Hai Duong has issued a plan to recruit more than 1,400 teachers and staff of public educational institutions in 2023. Of which, 342 preschool teachers, 633 primary school teachers, 332 secondary school teachers, 23 teachers of district-level vocational education and continuing education centers, 88 public high schools...

According to the standards, Binh Duong province is still short of more than 3,000 teachers. Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, said that to recruit enough teachers, the department has taken many measures such as announcing recruitment, setting training rankings, attracting excellent graduates...

Binh Duong Department of Education and Training is also continuing to coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs to advise the Provincial People's Committee to consider and approve the contract of missing civil servants according to regulations; continue to direct educational institutions to implement plans on assigning teachers to teach extra hours and guest lecturers to solve the shortage of teachers during the time when not enough teachers have been recruited.

According to statistics, in the 2023-2024 school year, Binh Duong province will have nearly 549,000 students at all levels, an increase of 38,000 students compared to the previous school year. The province is also urgently completing and putting into use 19 new public schools to serve the rapidly increasing number of students. Therefore, the problem of teachers is a huge challenge for this locality.

In the 2023-2024 school year, Cao Bang province was assigned to recruit more than 500 teachers for all levels. Mr. Vu Van Duong, Director of the Department of Education and Training, said that the recruitment exam for civil servants in the education sector opened at the end of May. From more than 1,100 candidates registered for the exam, 1,104 candidates were eligible to participate in the second round.

"The Department is carrying out procedures according to regulations to announce the list of successful candidates for the recruitment exam for civil servants in the Education sector. These teachers will perform teaching duties right in the new school year, partly filling the long-standing shortage of teachers in the area, especially teachers of Information Technology and English," said Mr. Duong.

Previously, in 2022, Cao Bang also organized a recruitment exam for civil servants in the Education sector, with a target of 519 civil servants. However, the province only recruited 315 people due to lack of resources. Statistics up to 2023 show that the whole province lacks 527 teachers at all levels, this situation is more serious when implementing the new general education program.

Currently, Cao Bang does not have specialized teachers to teach integrated subjects (Natural Sciences, History and Geography).

Currently, Can Tho is lacking nearly 700 teachers at all levels, including 160 preschool teachers, 313 primary school teachers, 110 secondary school teachers and 105 high school teachers.

The reason Can Tho is lacking teachers is because 5/9 districts have recruited teachers. Four districts including Ninh Kieu, Cai Rang, Thot Not, Vinh Thanh have not recruited teachers.

According to statistics from the Department of Teachers and Education Management (Ministry of Education and Training), by the end of the 2022-2023 school year, the country will recruit more than 17,000 public teachers. However, there are still more than 74,000 staffing quotas assigned to localities but have not been recruited.

According to preliminary statistics based on industry data, the country is currently short of 118,253 teachers. The number of teachers short increased by 11,308 compared to the 2021-2022 school year (preschool increased by 7,887 people, primary school increased by 169 people, secondary school increased by 1,207 people, high school increased by 2,045 people).
