On the afternoon of January 9, 2025, in Hanoi, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs ) held a press conference to announce information about the Homeland Spring 2025 program. This is an annual event demonstrating the attention of the Party, State and people of the whole country to the overseas Vietnamese community.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang - Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, said that this year's program will attract about 1,000 overseas Vietnamese, including 100 outstanding overseas Vietnamese. Notably, the event will be held from January 18 to 20, 2025 (ie December 19 to 21 of the year of the Dragon) in Hanoi with the theme "Vietnam - Rising in the new era".
The highlight of the program was the participation of President Luong Cuong and his wife in many meaningful activities such as the incense offering ceremony at Kinh Thien Palace and the traditional carp releasing ceremony at Uncle Ho's fish pond on the occasion of Ong Cong Ong Tao Festival.
In particular, on the evening of January 19, at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, there will be an art exchange program broadcast live on Vietnam Television, in which the President will deliver a New Year's greeting and beat the drum to open the Spring Festival.
The art program is co-organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Hanoi People's Committee, expected to welcome about 1,500 overseas Vietnamese delegates, relatives and guests from home and abroad.
In addition, the delegation of 100 outstanding overseas Vietnamese will participate in many meaningful activities organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs such as visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, offering flowers at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs, greeting the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and leaders of the Party and State. In particular, the leaders of Hanoi city will organize a reception for overseas Vietnamese on the evening of January 19, 2025.
Sharing about the new features of this year's program, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang said that in addition to moving the venue from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, the program also has innovations in the theme, reflecting the aspirations of the Vietnamese people in the new era.
"We hope this will be an event to honor the great contributions of overseas Vietnamese, while also encouraging overseas Vietnamese to strive to build their homeland and contribute to the nation's rise," the Deputy Minister emphasized.
Another new feature is the expansion of local connection activities. This year, in addition to events in Hanoi, the program also includes activities taking place in Hung Yen province, creating opportunities for overseas Vietnamese to contribute and offer advice for local socio-economic development.
Homeland Spring 2025 is not only an occasion for overseas Vietnamese to reunite with their families, but also an opportunity to strengthen the close relationship between overseas Vietnamese and their homeland, clearly demonstrating the affection and responsibility of the Party and State in caring for the overseas Vietnamese community.
Through that, the program contributes to promoting patriotism, looking back to the roots and encouraging overseas Vietnamese to preserve the cultural identity, traditions and language of the nation.
