Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) said today that in September it will start construction on three main construction packages at Long Thanh airport with a total value of about VND22,000 billion.

Specifically, package 4.7 - construction and installation of equipment for aircraft parking lots and other works, worth more than 6,300 billion VND.

Package No. 4.8 - construction, equipment installation, design and construction drawings for internal port traffic works and airport technical infrastructure, worth more than 11,400 billion VND.

Package No. 4.9 - construction and installation of aircraft fuel supply system equipment, worth more than 3,200 billion VND.

ACV representative said that the above 3 packages have completed contractor selection, will start construction in September and be completed before August 31, 2026.

At the same time, ACV has proactively adjusted the contractor selection plan with the goal of synchronizing operations with the passenger terminal. The remaining packages of the project such as the cargo terminal, parking garage, ICT system, etc. are all being developed by ACV with a schedule and determination to complete before August 2026.

Mr. Lai Xuan Thanh, Chairman of ACV Board of Directors, said that Long Thanh airport is expected to be completed and tested before August 31, 2026.

"The first commercial flight is expected to take place on September 2, 2026," said Mr. Lai Xuan Thanh.

Long Thanh Airport Passenger Terminal is considered the "heart" of the entire project in phase 1. Construction started on August 31, 2023, with a total investment of more than VND 35,000 billion. When completed, it will have a capacity to serve 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year.

Currently, there are about 6,000 officers, engineers and workers working at the construction site. The contractor organizes many construction teams, continuously day and night with the highest goal of speeding up the progress.
