Groundbreaking ceremony on the Chinese side.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee emphasized: Lao Cai (Vietnam) and Yunnan (China) are strategic connection points between the two countries to effectively implement the cooperation and connection plan within the framework of "Two Corridors, One Belt" with the "Belt and Road" initiative.

Promote strategic infrastructure connectivity between the two countries in terms of railways, highways, and border gate infrastructure, combining “hard connections” in infrastructure and “soft connections” in technical cooperation and exchange, smart customs, and reducing logistics costs through border gates with the same goal of achieving an import-export value of more than 10 billion USD before 2030.

The investment in building a road bridge across the Red River in the border area of Bat Xat (Vietnam) - Ba Sai (China) not only has the meaning of connecting the traffic infrastructure between the two countries, but also affirms the role of the trade gateway of Lao Cai province and Yunnan province on the economic corridor of Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh; is the center of economic trade connection between Vietnam and ASEAN countries with the Southwest region of China.

Recognizing and praising the efforts of Lao Cai (Vietnam) and Yunnan (China) provinces to complete investment procedures for the construction of the Bat Xat (Vietnam) - Ba Sai (China) road bridge. Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan said: This project not only plays a role on the vital traffic route, helping to shorten the travel distance between the two localities, but also creates a great driving force for the development of trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two countries.

Once completed, the project will open up many opportunities for economic and investment cooperation, while improving the lives of people on both sides of the border.

This is also a testament to the efforts of both Vietnam and China in implementing the Vietnam-China Joint Statement on “cooperation, infrastructure construction and transport connectivity, accelerating the promotion of border infrastructure construction connectivity”; as well as the determination of the Vietnamese and Chinese governments in developing the transport infrastructure system in border areas, towards a region of sustainable development, peace and prosperity.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction will closely coordinate with relevant agencies of Lao Cai province and relevant agencies of China to ensure that the project is deployed, constructed, and put into use on schedule, meeting the highest technical and quality standards.
