Prior to this, people across the country followed and updated information related to the parade with great excitement and anticipation. A veteran shared that the atmosphere of training in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country reminded him of his heroic youth. Memories of the days when he marched with the army towards Saigon flooded back to him. Many of his comrades shared the same feelings. Some, undeterred by the long distance and poor health, came to Ho Chi Minh City to participate in and watch the preliminary and final rehearsals.
On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union launched a nationwide high-intensity propaganda campaign with the theme " Peace is so beautiful," aiming to convey these great values into concrete, relatable, and practical emotions and actions in daily life. The "Social Media Red Campaign" was enthusiastically embraced by cadres, union members, youth, and people across the country.
People simultaneously changed their profile pictures and cover photos, and posted content, images, and videos . This activity expressed love for their homeland and country, national pride, and the joyful atmosphere celebrating the anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, associated with the national flag. According to the Central Youth Union, on TikTok alone, as of April 24th, the hashtag #hoabinhdeplam had reached 111.5 million views.
In Quang Tri, the atmosphere celebrating this significant event is equally vibrant. These days, anyone crossing the Hien Luong bridge connecting the Ben Hai River feels a sense of nostalgia. The April sky is a vast, clear blue. Standing out against the blue backdrop, the red flag with a yellow star proudly flies atop the Hien Luong monument, as if it has never been tainted by division. Not only tourists from near and far, but also many Quang Tri residents want to visit this place during these historic April days.
They came to take a commemorative photo, to admire the peaceful scenery of the countryside along both banks of the river 50 years after peace was restored, and to deeply feel the value of today's peace, which was bought at the cost of so much blood and tears of the past.
It is at times like these that we truly see the value of the word "patriotism," the meaning of national spirit, and the integrity of our country. An atmosphere of pride and patriotism has been spreading through the veins of all Vietnamese people these past few days. Across forums and social media, the vibrant red of the Vietnamese flag is everywhere.
Joy and pride radiated from the faces of the soldiers participating in the parade and march, and from the stories and glances of the people following this meaningful event. The sight of the soldiers marching through the crowd, greeted with cheers and applause; the foreign tourists wearing red shirts with the yellow star, blending into the sea of people at the rehearsal, filled us with pride and emotion.
Therefore, public opinion condemns the inappropriate remarks made by some individuals when their daily lives or traffic safety were affected by the parade and march. It is even more reprehensible that these individuals were singers and MCs – people who, given their influence, should have been responsible for spreading the positive values of this event to the public.
For hostile forces aiming to divide national unity, many have written articles distorting the truth and slandering our regime; spreading rumors about the wasteful spending on this event, arguing that the funds should be invested in public works and helping the poor rather than organizing parades and marches. In addition, some have deliberately made sweeping statements, claiming that history learned and memorized from books is sufficient, and that elaborate commemorative ceremonies are unnecessary...
However, historical values cannot be distorted, and national pride, regardless of the era, deserves to be honored. The movement of Vietnamese people expressing their patriotism throughout the country on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country speaks volumes about this.
With its powerful and far-reaching impact, the commemoration has given people at home, international friends, and especially the younger generation the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the nation's glorious history, igniting pride and fostering connection and unity among all segments of the population. The solemn atmosphere of the commemoration, the vibrant and powerful parade, and many beautiful stories surrounding it have spread the flame of patriotism throughout the country.
This is far more valuable and meaningful than any lesson in textbooks. More importantly, this event demonstrates the unity of the Vietnamese people in fighting foreign invaders, repelling evil, and refuting distorted narratives that exploit political events to slander the regime and deny the values of history.
Despite the distorted narratives, the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country once again rekindled patriotism and national pride, creating the strength to preserve the sacred values in the glorious history of the nation.
Through this event, let each person contribute to spreading the patriotic message and the joyful and enthusiastic spirit of the entire nation. This will inspire and motivate people to participate in contributing to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland and to thwart the hostile forces' plot to divide the national unity.
