Launching Thanh Thuy Primary and Secondary Boarding School Project

On the morning of August 19, at Thanh Thuy commune, the Provincial People's Committee held the Launching Ceremony of the Project to build Thanh Thuy Primary and Secondary Boarding School.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Huy Ngoc attended the launching ceremony of the Thanh Thuy Commune Inter-level Boarding School project.

This is a key project in 16 inter-level boarding school projects implemented in the province's border communes according to the Politburo's policy, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). The ceremony was held live and connected online with 80 points nationwide and the province's Central point. Attending the project launching ceremony on the Central side were comrade Le Tan Dung, Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Pham Van Sinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Finance (Ministry of Education and Training). On the provincial side, there were comrade Phan Huy Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ma The Hong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Le Thi Thanh Tra, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; leaders of departments, branches, sectors and mass organizations of the province; leaders of Lao Chai, Thanh Thuy communes, Ha Giang 1 ward, representatives of schools, and many local people.

The project has a total investment of more than 211 billion VND. The project is built on an area of about 3 hectares in Na Thai village, Thanh Thuy commune, including 31 classrooms, 15 subject rooms, 1 library; 25 public rooms, 198 dormitories for students and teachers, and many auxiliary works such as: Multi-purpose house, cultural activity house, kitchen - dining room, toilet - bathroom for students, football field... The project is expected to start construction in the third quarter of 2025 and be completed and put into use in 2026.

According to the report of the Department of Education and Training, in Thanh Thuy commune and surrounding areas, there are over 2,500 primary and secondary school students every year, of which nearly 50% of the students are enjoying policies and boarding at schools. However, even at ethnic boarding schools, the physical facilities are still very poor and the area is cramped.

The investment in the construction of Thanh Thuy Inter-level Boarding School is extremely necessary, an important solution to improve the quality of education , reduce the rate of students dropping out of school due to geographical conditions, and create a safe and modern learning environment for children of ethnic minorities. When completed and put into use, the school will accept boarding students of ethnic minorities in the area, increasing access to education for students in the border communes of Lao Chai, Thanh Thuy and part of Phong Quang commune (old). This will be a model for replication, contributing to the development of human resources and strengthening security and defense in border areas.
