WATCH CLIP:
According to initial information, at nearly 1:00 p.m. on May 13, a fire broke out at a row of kiosks along Quat Dong market road (Quat Dong commune, Thuong Tin district, Hanoi ).
Ms. L. - a witness to the incident said that at that time, she was taking a nap in her house when she smelled a burning smell and heard people shouting that the milk shop outside was on fire.
Mrs. L. ran outside and saw the fire raging and smoke billowing, so she shouted for everyone still inside the house to run out and escape.
“When I saw the fire, my limbs went limp. I didn’t know what to do. I just ran outside to escape,” Ms. L. recounted.
Another witness said that because many houses had tarps and umbrellas outside to block the sun, the fire spread very quickly. In about 5 minutes, fire and smoke engulfed the front of the row of 4 kiosks.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Thuong Tin District Police dispatched 3 fire trucks and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire.
After 30 minutes, the fire was completely extinguished.
The fire did not cause any human casualties, but about 4 kiosks had their advertising signs and items placed in front of the store burned.
According to the kiosk owners, the initial cause may have been an electrical short circuit at the advertising board that caused the fire.
Thuong Tin District Police are continuing to assess the damage and investigate the cause of the fire.
