After the country's reunification, despite being busy with many tasks, General Secretary Le Duan still arranged to visit his homeland. The last time was in 1983, when meeting with the Party Committee, the government and the people, the General Secretary emotionally said, "Today I return to visit my homeland. I am old and weak, and I don't know if I will return again, but today I am so happy that I shed tears when I see my homeland developing and changing day by day. The happiest thing I am doing this time is that our fields have water, we can grow two rice crops, and our hardworking people will definitely become rich."

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, 70 years old, Co Thanh village, Trieu Thanh commune shared, I was lucky to meet General Secretary Le Duan once. He was very simple, full of emotions, he shook hands with everyone he met and asked about life, work, children's education, and finally suggested how to choose a career suitable for their age and ability to build a new life. For farmers, the General Secretary encouraged them to increase agricultural production; for people in the suburbs with little land for production, they should learn a trade to join cooperatives and enterprises to do small-scale industry (TTCN). The General Secretary's suggestions and encouragement were a great motivation for everyone to get to work right away, so after a short time, life became much less difficult.

Mr. Phong added that in 1978, he was fortunate to participate in the construction of the Nam Thach Han irrigation project - a project that General Secretary Le Duan directed central ministries and branches to research and invest in. Now, looking at the green fields with many bumper crops, we can see how great General Secretary Le Duan's strategic thinking was.

Secretary of the Party Committee of Trieu Thanh Commune, Le Canh Tuong, could not hide his emotions as he shared: “To realize the advice of General Secretary Le Duan, in recent times, Trieu Thanh Commune and Trieu Dong Commune (now Trieu Thanh Commune) have closely followed the Party's policies and guidelines and based on the practical situation of life to build directives and resolutions with the desire to bring the best life to the people.

The Party Congress of Trieu Thanh commune, term 2020 - 2025, determined that the locality will continue to promote internal resources, take advantage of external resources, effectively deploy investment sources, continue to maintain and develop the new rural construction program. Along with that, focus on prioritizing the development of industry - handicrafts, trade - services, and promote economic restructuring towards trade - services.

Accordingly, from 2020 to 2025, the commune strives to achieve an average annual economic growth rate of 13% - 14%. Labor in the agricultural and fishery sector is below 35%, labor in industry - construction, trade and services is above 65%. Average income per capita by 2025 will reach 80 - 85 million VND/person/year. Maintain national standard schools at all 3 levels. Reduce the poverty rate to below 3%, near-poor households to 2% - 3% annually.

Evaluating the results achieved in socio-economic development in recent times, Chairman of Trieu Thanh Commune People's Committee Nguyen The Phuong said that the targets set by the Commune Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term have been basically achieved successfully. Accordingly, in 2024, the total production value of the commune's industries will reach 450.62 billion VND, and the average income per capita will reach 73.87 million VND.

To achieve that result, in addition to the advantage of having fertile agricultural land and irrigation water to ensure 2 crops per year, Trieu Thanh commune also has another advantage of being adjacent to Quang Tri town, which is very favorable for developing industry, handicrafts, trade and services. Currently, Trieu Thanh commune has 120 industrial and handicraft establishments producing such as: confectionery, spring rolls, construction siding, 420 trade and service establishments with diverse products to serve the people.

The commune has also coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology, the District Economic-Infrastructure Division, and the Provincial Rural Development Department to survey production facilities to build product brands as well as investigate, survey, and evaluate the program to preserve and develop rural industries to help people and businesses promote products, expand production facilities, and increase income for workers.

Not only taking care of production development, the work of encouraging learning and talent promotion is always taken care of by the Party Committee, the government, the clans and the whole society as instructed by General Secretary Le Duan. Accordingly, the emulation movement of good teaching, good learning, building friendly schools and active students is promoted by schools. Villages in the commune regularly organize activities to encourage learning and talent promotion, many clans and all schools have built a fund to encourage learning. In 2024 alone, villages, clans and schools organized the awarding of nearly 1,000 gifts to students with an amount of up to hundreds of millions of VND.

To develop socio-economic development in the coming time, Chairman of Trieu Thanh Commune People's Committee Nguyen The Phuong said that the Party Committee and the authorities of the commune have set out many goals, tasks and solutions for implementation. Accordingly, in 2025, Trieu Thanh Commune will continue to promote production, focusing on sowing high-quality rice varieties on an area of ​​728.9 hectares, striving to achieve an average yield of 12 tons/ha/year. Mobilize industrial and handicraft production households to invest more capital, equip more machinery to improve product quality, diversify designs, and increase output to increase income.

Along with that, the Commune People's Committee continues to coordinate with superiors to effectively implement industrial promotion and traditional craft development work, and at the same time guide enterprises and industrial and handicraft production establishments to register for the industrial promotion support project in 2025 according to Project 2056 dated June 28, 2022 of the Trieu Phong District People's Committee on a number of policies to support the development of industry, handicrafts, trade and services in the period of 2022-2026 to expand production, improve the quality of goods, strive to increase the production value of industries by 13% -14%, and average income per capita to reach 75 - 85 million VND.
