Athletes competed with all their might in the spirit of "Solidarity-Honesty-Nobility-Progress".
Chess is a sport of intelligence, courage and strategic thinking, not only an entertaining game, but also a journey to train the personality and qualities of the young generation. For young people, the future human resources of the country, through chess, it helps to form logical thinking, improve concentration, discipline, perseverance and decision-making ability. These qualities are an important foundation to firmly enter the digital age and international integration.
This year, the tournament gathered more than 1,500 athletes from more than 52 delegations representing provinces, cities, industries and clubs nationwide. This is an impressive number, demonstrating the strong spread and vitality of the youth chess movement throughout the country.
Participating in the tournament, athletes will compete for 160 sets of individual and team medals in 10 age groups of 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 20 men and women in 4 competition events: rapid chess, blitz chess, standard chess and traditional chess. Through the tournament, outstanding young athletes will be selected to represent the country in international tournaments in 2026.
The National Youth Chess Championship is a prestigious annual tournament, part of the official competition system of the Vietnam Chess Federation. The tournament is not only an opportunity to evaluate the training and coaching of young athletes in localities, industries and clubs across the country, but also a place to discover and select promising talents for the national youth team to participate in domestic and international arenas.
Mr. Vu Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, said that the tournament is expected to be a place to gather talented faces, a launching pad for big dreams, big journeys, contributing to affirming the position of Vietnamese intellectual sports on the regional and world map.
For Ninh Binh province, hosting the National Youth Chess Championship this year is an important milestone, demonstrating efforts in developing sports, especially intellectual sports; an opportunity to promote the image of a Ninh Binh with a strong cultural identity, rich in development potential, gradually rising to become a specialized center for tourism , cultural industry and organizing national and international events.
The tournament runs until June 25.
