Last night, the final round of the Miss SIU (Saigon International University) beauty pageant selected the top 15 most outstanding female students to be crowned Miss, First Runner-up, and Second Runner-up.
Master Cao Quang Tu, Head of the competition's organizing committee, shared: "Over nearly two months of organization, the contestants have gone through the preliminary rounds, semi-finals, talent show, and several training and community activities. A highlight was the "Free Ao Dai" program on April 15th, where over 500 Ao Dai dresses were donated by the Top 22 Miss SIU contestants to underprivileged women in remote areas."

At the final night, 15 contestants competed in the ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress), evening gown, and Vietnamese traditional costume (Viet Phuc) segments. Besides crowning Miss SIU, First Runner-up, and Second Runner-up, the competition also awarded titles for Most Popular Contestant; Best Ao Dai Wearer; Most Talented Contestant; Best SIU Event Outfit Wearer; Best Evening Gown Wearer; and Most Impressive Presentation.
The judging panel includes many experts in beauty and fashion , notably Miss World Vietnam 2022 Huynh Nguyen Mai Phuong, Miss Globe Vietnam 2022 Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan , and First Runner-up Miss Grand Vietnam 2022 Che Nguyen Quynh Chau.
Miss Mai Phuong said she felt very emotional sitting on the judging panel because the feelings from her own beauty pageant day came flooding back.
The beauty queens took to the stage to share their secrets for performing in high heels without trembling or stumbling...

Beauty queen Quynh Nhu's performance in the Q&A segment, delivered in English, received enthusiastic applause.
When asked, "If you were lucky enough to be crowned Miss SIU 2023 but someone shared negative comments about you on their personal page, claiming you were undeserving, how would you react?", Quynh Nhu demonstrated her composure and confidence by answering in English, which translated into Vietnamese as: "No one is perfect. If I have behaved wrongly in the past, I will accept it, learn from it, and become a better person."
According to Master Cao Quang Tu, the first Miss SIU competition is not simply a beauty contest; it aims to find a representative of intellectual beauty, virtue, and talent. Furthermore, the competition contributes to creating a professional and modern platform, giving students the opportunity to experience and shine through activities that preserve the traditional beauty of Vietnamese culture, reduce waste, and protect the environment.
