Amidst rising electricity demand and the increasing risk of localized power shortages during the hot season, the government aims to save at least 3% of total national electricity consumption. Simultaneously, it promotes a "self-production, self-consumption" model at the household and office levels, contributing to reducing pressure on the national power grid.
In recent years, many households have proactively installed rooftop solar power, increasingly choosing energy-saving materials and equipment to prevent energy waste, gradually balancing household expenses while contributing to sustainable environmental protection.
The house uses many electrical appliances, such as an automatic irrigation system and a fish tank filtration system. Before installing the rooftop solar power system, the homeowner had to pay 5-6 million VND in electricity bills each month, but after installing the solar power system, the cost of electricity has now decreased by 70%.
Mr. Nguyen Van Bien from Hanoi said: "My house has a Koi pond, so every time there's a power outage, it's a serious problem. At first, I was very worried, wondering if the efficiency would be as stated. In reality, I see a clear improvement."
According to rooftop solar power developers, the number of households and offices installing these systems has doubled compared to the same period last year, especially in March. However, the current barrier to solar power becoming more accessible to households is the high initial investment cost.
Mr. Tran Van Nhon, General Director of Intech Vietnam Green Energy Development Company, stated: "Currently, there are three solutions to support and optimize costs for customers. We are constantly improving our design and installation solutions to optimize costs for our customers. We are also diversifying our financial solutions, such as installment payment programs and bank loans."
Consumers also expect the early introduction of mechanisms to encourage the transition to renewable energy, and support preferential interest rates on consumer credit, so that people can confidently choose products with smart technology applications in electricity management.
