A strategic step from primary healthcare.
The Tuyen Quang Department of Health has proactively advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan to organize annual health check-ups for the people.
The plan aims to ensure that 100% of the local population has access to free medical examination and screening services. This will ensure social welfare and significantly shift community awareness from focusing on "treating diseases" to proactively "preventing diseases" and early screening.
This humane initiative, upon its launch, received strong support and created a positive impact on the people. The long-standing habit of "only seeking medical attention when sick" has begun to change positively thanks to these practical care policies. Mr. Ha Van Quyen, from residential group 17, Phan Thiet, Minh Xuan ward, happily shared: "Like many residents in the neighborhood, I am very happy that the province has implemented the plan for free health screening for all citizens. This is a very practical and caring gesture from the Party and the State towards the lives and health of each and every one of us."
This policy not only brings joy but also provides a solid foundation, helping people to be more proactive in protecting themselves and their families from disease risks. Trieu Thu Ha, from Minh Son commune, happily said: "Normally, when I'm healthy, I never think about going for a check-up. Now, with this policy, I feel protected from an early age. Every citizen gets free regular check-ups, early detection of diseases allows for timely treatment, saving my family money and contributing to improving health not only for me but for the entire community."
Prepare resources, prioritize disadvantaged areas.
In the roadmap for implementing the 2026 universal health check-up plan, the province has clearly defined a strategy for segmenting target groups to optimize resources. In particular, the province prioritizes early check-ups for people living in remote, disadvantaged, and border communes, as well as those in hydropower reservoir areas. This comprehensive and proactive preparation is a major advantage, enabling screening and examination activities to be carried out at the local level, saving people from having to travel long distances and effectively reducing the burden on higher-level hospitals.
To maximize the effectiveness of electronic health record management and creation, participants are specifically divided into two main groups. Group 1 includes officials, civil servants, members of the armed forces, and workers (including apprentices, probationary employees, and non-contract workers); Group 2 includes self-employed individuals, students, the elderly, children under 6 years old, policy beneficiaries, and people with disabilities. This strict classification ensures that all citizens, regardless of background, have fair, transparent, and comprehensive access to healthcare services.
The health sector has proactively mobilized and actively participated in provincial hospitals and regional health centers. Dr. Nguyen Hung Dao, Director of Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital, said: “The hospital has prepared high-quality human resources and modern equipment to strengthen and support grassroots health stations when needed. In particular, we will coordinate the organization of mobile health check-up points concentrated right in the area, in accordance with the close guidance of the Department of Health, to create the most favorable conditions for people to travel.”
Health stations throughout the province have proactively developed specific implementation plans, ensuring that no one is left behind. Dr. Luong Thi Luan, Director of the Lung Cu Commune Health Station, said: “Despite being a remote and isolated commune with difficult terrain and challenging transportation conditions for the local people, the commune health station is always at the highest level of readiness. At this point, we have fully prepared the necessary personnel, medical supplies, and mobile medical equipment, and are ready to go directly to the villages to conduct medical examinations and create health records for all residents in the area.”
Comrade Nguyen Thanh Hung, Director of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Department of Health, stated: To realize the goal of comprehensive healthcare, the Tuyen Quang provincial health sector has been proactively investing in and preparing a comprehensive system of modern medical equipment. Equipping with advanced screening, diagnostic imaging, and mobile testing equipment is a key factor in optimizing processes and ensuring accurate and timely medical examinations for all segments of the population. Since the beginning of the year, the Tuyen Quang provincial health sector has proactively coordinated with central and local hospitals to organize free medical examinations and provide free medicine to nearly 25,000 patients. This is a significant effort to bring high-quality medical services closer to the people, especially in remote areas and ethnic minority communities.
This nationwide health check-up campaign is not just a simple social welfare program, but a foundational building block for a long-term health strategy. The provincial health sector is determined to complete at least one annual health check-up for all residents in the province by November 2026.
