Leaders from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Sub-Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries of Thai Nguyen province inspected and supervised the work of preventing hunger and cold for livestock in Yen Binh commune.

The inspection, conducted from January 8th to 13th, aimed to assess the implementation of directives from the central and provincial authorities regarding measures to prevent hunger and cold for livestock during severe cold weather; and to check the implementation of measures to prevent and control dangerous diseases in livestock and poultry such as African swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease, and avian influenza.

The inspection covers the following aspects: sheltering and reinforcing livestock enclosures; stockpiling and replenishing feed and water; keeping animals warm; vaccination, hygiene, disinfection, and livestock management at the facility.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Sub-Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries of Thai Nguyen province provide guidance to farmers on preventing and controlling hunger, cold, and diseases in livestock.
People are proactively implementing measures to prevent and combat hunger, cold, and disease among their livestock.

Currently, the total livestock and poultry population in the province is developing stably, with approximately 136,000 buffaloes and cattle; 880,000 pigs and over 20 million poultry, meeting the needs of production and consumption, especially during the Lunar New Year. However, the complex weather patterns and sharp drop in temperature increase the risk of hunger, cold, and disease outbreaks, particularly for large livestock, young animals, and small-scale farmers.

Through inspections, specialized agencies have promptly guided and urged localities and livestock farmers to strictly implement technical measures, avoiding complacency in the face of severe cold weather, contributing to protecting livestock and minimizing losses during the 2015-2026 Winter-Spring crop season.
