During the summer days of mid-May, Ruc Mon Cave in Kim Phu commune, with its pristine beauty, is an ideal destination, attracting a large number of international tourists. They come here to experience the feeling of swimming in the cool water, crossing rocky outcrops to conquer the magnificent system of stalactites inside the cave.

Immersed in the cool water in front of the Ruc Mon cave, David, a Dutch tourist, said that he had been traveling in Vietnam for almost a month, mainly visiting famous natural tourist destinations in Quang Tri. However, upon arriving at Ruc Mon, he was extremely impressed by the pristine and tranquil beauty of the place.

While paddling and swimming amidst the surrounding mountains and forests, and admiring the stunning stalactites in the cave, David and his new friends from England, Israel, and other countries were thoroughly enjoying themselves. "If I have the chance, I will come back and visit and experience all the caves around here," David shared.

Besides Ruc Mon, Kim Phu commune currently has many magnificent caves hidden within its limestone mountain ranges that remain undiscovered. Recently, the Kim Phu Commune People's Committee organized a survey team to explore caves with tourism potential. The results were surprising, revealing many caves with pristine beauty and diverse, rare stalactite formations. Mr. Dinh Thanh Duan, a member of the survey team, shared that although he is a local, this was his first time entering these caves and he was truly overwhelmed by the scenery inside.

According to Mr. Duan, during the war against the US, these caves served as safe havens for soldiers and youth volunteers protecting key transportation points on the legendary Truong Son Road. If developed for tourism, these would be very attractive destinations, contributing to the diversification of tourism products for the locality.

Besides its natural landscapes, Kim Phu is also a land rich in unique traditional values, with a diverse and distinctive culinary scene. The traditional dishes of the local people, imbued with the essence of Mother Nature, are always a highlight that attracts tourists to visit and experience.

However, opportunities always come with challenges and require determination and a systematic approach to create differentiation and sustainability.

The Kim Phu Commune Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term identified one of its breakthroughs as effectively exploiting its potential and strengths to develop tourism, especially community-based tourism and ecotourism, while preserving traditional cultural identity.

In order to make tourism a strength in socio-economic development, with the goal of improving and increasing people's income, since the operation of the two-tiered local government, Kim Phu has taken many steps to promote tourism development.

According to Hoang Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Kim Phu commune, the locality is currently calling for investment in potential tourist destinations in the area, focusing on exploiting natural landscapes and cultural and historical values, and gradually developing a community tourism network.

According to Mr. Binh, maximizing the potential for tourism development is not only a way to diversify livelihoods, create jobs, increase income for people, and contribute to socio-economic development, but also an opportunity to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values ​​of the locality.
