Journalist Vu Duy Hien: Fate with journalism
Originally a propaganda officer of the 3rd Army Corps, the story of journalist Duy Hien (resident reporter of the People's Army Newspaper in Khanh Hoa) turning to professional journalism is encapsulated in the word fate. While working as a propaganda officer, he practiced writing and collaborated with many newspapers such as Gia Lai Newspaper, Army Newspaper,Education and Times Newspaper... Every article he sent was published by the newspapers, which created great motivation for him. In 2011, fate came to him when the Command allowed him to attend a second degree in Journalism offered by the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda for officers nationwide. After graduating, he continued to work in propaganda for the 3rd Army Corps before switching to professional journalism as a reporter for the People's Army Newspaper.

Being destined for the profession is one thing, journalist Duy Hien is also an author who is quite destined for journalism awards. In the past 5 years alone, he has "won" an award every year. He shared that on the first day he arrived in Nha Trang City to take up the assignment as a resident reporter in February 2022, he got off the bus at the Northern Bus Station (his family currently lives in Gia Lai province) at 3 a.m. and rode his motorbike along Tran Phu coastal road. By inertia, he read the signs and propaganda boards hanging along the road and the board with the content "Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and People are determined to implement Resolution 09" (Resolution No. 09 dated January 28, 2022 of the Politburo on building and developing Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045) which made a Party Building specialist immediately "jump the number". After that, he wrote a series of 4 articles "Khanh Hoa - Opportunities and challenges in implementing special mechanisms and policies". The series of articles received positive feedback from local leaders and readers, winning the second prize of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Building Journalism Award in 2022 and the third prize of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Journalism Award in 2023.
Journalist Duy Hien said that working in the military environment requires journalists to have a strong political stance, a deep understanding of the military and national defense, and to strictly follow the regulations and rules of the military. “When I put on my military uniform to work as a journalist, I feel my responsibility is even greater, I need to clearly express my views and stance in all situations, worthy of the people's trust. Because the military environment is quite specialized, the "sensitivity" to "hot" issues in society is not equal to other newspapers. However, with the awareness of being a reporter for the country's leading political newspaper, I and the reporters of the People's Army Newspaper in general have a way of exploiting the topic through the lens of "orientation and finding solutions", journalist Duy Hien said.
Journalist Pham Thanh Long: Proud to be a reporter for Khanh Hoa Newspaper
15 years of working at Khanh Hoa Newspaper has helped journalist Pham Thanh Long's pen become more resilient. Following the propaganda of the forestry and fishery sector, in charge of propaganda in the mountainous district of Khanh Son, journalist Thanh Long has never been afraid. “The trips to follow the hot news series; investigate deforestation, or the trips at sea to experience life with fishermen... to do the series of articles such as: "Following the national flag to go offshore", "Advancing to the big sea" or the times with colleagues to do the series of news articles, investigative reports left many impressions on me. That was the time with journalist Dinh Lam (Khanh Hoa Newspaper) infiltrated a group of ore miners from Lam Dong province to Khanh Hoa, stayed with them in Khanh Thanh forest (Khanh Vinh district), worked as an ore digger for a week to do the investigative series "The pain of ore thieves". Or the times staying overnight with journalist Xuan Thanh following the convoy of trucks carrying illegal timber, deep into the Da Rao forest (Khanh Thuong commune, Khanh Vinh district) to do the investigative series "Gutting Khanh Thuong forest"... left me with many memories", journalist Thanh Long said.

Assigned by the leaders of Khanh Hoa Newspaper to implement the newspaper's "Bookcase for my class" program, journalist Thanh Long made efforts to connect with units, organizations and businesses to implement this program at the beginning of each new school year. Thereby, Khanh Hoa Newspaper has awarded nearly 100 bookcases, 150 scholarships to students in difficult circumstances and some teaching equipment at 11 primary and secondary schools in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, coastal areas. The total value of the gifts is more than 500 million VND. In 2023 and 2024, he also actively carried out the tasks assigned by the leaders of Khanh Hoa Newspaper in implementing the scholarship program "Accompanying fishermen" for students who are children of fishermen in the province who have overcome difficulties to study well, organized by Khanh Hoa Newspaper and Sanvinest Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest One Member Co., Ltd.... "Every time I go into the real world to write articles or go on trips to carry out social and charity activities of Khanh Hoa Newspaper, I gain more experiences and new life experiences, as provisions for the road ahead", journalist Thanh Long expressed.
Cameraman Nguyen Dinh Thong: Silently behind the lens

He has participated in many news and reportage series, many of which have won high prizes at the annual Khanh Hoa Provincial Press Awards. For example: In 2023, he and journalist Ngoc Phong won first prize with the work "45 years of building and developing Truong Sa island district"; in 2024, he and journalists Hoai Nguyet and Nguyen Nam won first prize with the work "Listen to the people, the people listen" ; in 2025, he and reporter Thanh Tra won first prize for the series of reports "Homeland" ... Not only participating in the provincial press awards, he and his colleagues won many gold and silver medals at national television festivals...
What impressed us was that he had set foot on Truong Sa Island 14 times. Although the working conditions in Truong Sa were very harsh, on each trip, he always persevered in recording every authentic moment of life on the remote island, from the warm smiles of the island soldiers, the sound of temple bells echoing between the sea and sky, to the sacred rituals in the middle of the ocean. Mr. Dinh Thong shared: “Although I have been to Truong Sa 14 times, every time I set foot on the island, my feelings are still the same as the first time. I always take advantage of the short time I spend on the island to record the daily life, the hardships during training hours and the long nights of guarding the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the homeland”. His films have contributed significantly to spreading the love of the sea and islands to millions of viewers on the mainland, especially the young generation. With a passion for his profession, he is not only a cameraman, but also a silent "soldier" on the information front, bringing the image of the Fatherland in the middle of the ocean closer to the mainland.
