On the morning of June 10, the leader of the People's Committee of Tay Hoa district ( Phu Yen ) said that after receiving information from the Phu Yen Provincial Police about the prosecution of Ms. Dang Thi Hoa Hiep (born in 1972, residing in Tay Hoa district, Phu Yen; owner of Dai Chung - Da Thao Private Enterprise) for the crime of Producing and trading in counterfeit food products , the locality will revoke the certificate of 3-star OCOP products at the district level.
Da Thao coffee products were awarded 3-star OCOP certificate at district level.
"Da Thao coffee products will achieve 3-star OCOP at the district level from 2023, and the discovery of counterfeit goods from December 2024, so after the decision to prosecute is made, the locality will proceed to revoke this certificate" - said the leader of Tay Hoa District People's Committee.
On June 9, Phu Yen Provincial Police prosecuted Ms. Dang Thi Hoa Hiep for the crime of producing and trading in counterfeit food products , and applied measures to prohibit her from leaving her place of residence and from leaving the country.
Many boxes of additives for mixing coffee were seized by the police.
Previously, the authorities discovered unusual signs in the production and trading of Da Thao coffee, so they conducted an inspection. On April 11, the authorities temporarily seized more than 3.45 tons of ground coffee (6,845 bags), a pickup truck, and many production equipment and additives.
Investigation results show that from December 2024 to April 2025, the company changed the formula, reduced the caffeine content compared to the announcement, produced more than 21 tons of coffee (42,187 products), of which more than 17.6 tons were sold, earning nearly 1.27 billion VND. The rest was seized.
Ms. Hiep admitted her wrongdoing and voluntarily paid 590 million VND to remedy the consequences.
