Logistics solutions to boost exports to the US market in the new context

On June 19, 2025, in Hanoi, the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) in coordination with the Import-Export Department, Super Cargo Service Company and Cagotrans Company (USA) organized the Workshop "Logistics solutions for export enterprises facing US tariffs: Challenges and opportunities".

The workshop attracted the attention and participation of many domestic and international delegates and speakers, as well as a large number of import-export enterprises and logistics service providers from Vietnam and the United States.

Mr. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Agency spoke at the workshop.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Agency said: The United States has long been one of Vietnam's leading export markets, with export turnover reaching more than 100 billion USD in 2024, accounting for a large proportion of the country's total export turnover.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai - Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department pointed out challenges for the logistics sector.

“Logistics plays a key role in reducing costs and limiting the impact of tariffs, improving supply chain efficiency and expanding market penetration opportunities. The application of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain in logistics management, along with taking advantage of new-generation free trade agreements (FTAs) that Vietnam participates in, will help businesses reduce costs, increase transparency and meet the strict standards of the US market,” Mr. Bui Quang Hung emphasized.

At the workshop, representatives of logistics service providers from Vietnam and the United States updated agencies and businesses on the current US market situation, new US policies on trade, tax, and customs; challenges for Vietnamese businesses; opportunities from the shift of US and global supply chains; solutions and strategies to minimize challenges, market risks and optimize the logistics service chain for import and export goods to this market.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai - Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department pointed out the challenges for the logistics sector in the new context: Logistics demand may decrease due to decreased exports; increased logistics service costs; unstable and unpredictable markets may cause difficulties for long-term investment plans of enterprises; reduced FDI attraction affects the formation of high-value supply chains; competitive challenges from countries with similar production models...

Regarding Vietnam's response solutions, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai said that in the short term, along with bilateral negotiations with the United States, it is necessary to proactively adjust economic policies to adapt to the new context; promote disbursement of public investment capital, upgrade infrastructure, remove institutional bottlenecks; continue to support businesses on issues such as credit, loan guarantees, updating market information, trade promotion, etc.

In the long term, it is necessary to continue negotiating and signing FTAs ​​to diversify export markets; increase the localization rate, enhance domestic value, and move towards a sustainable supply chain; reform institutions, make trade and investment activities transparent; create an environment to nurture businesses, and form pioneering enterprises...

In the context of fierce international trade competition, investing in modern logistics is not only a short-term solution but also a long-term strategy, forcing businesses to research to have a systematic strategy for sustainable trade activities.

Mr. Bui Quang Hung said that in the coming time, the Trade Promotion Agency will coordinate with the Import-Export Department and related units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade , committing to continue accompanying Vietnamese and local enterprises, promoting sustainable logistics solutions, applying high technology and building national brands for export products.
