Promoting the process of promoting and recognizing the World Cultural Heritage "The Complex of Monuments and Landscapes of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac"

VHO - According to the Vietnamese Delegation to UNESCO, the event to promote the dossier "The Complex of Monuments and Landscapes of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac" nominated for World Cultural Heritage recently took place at the Vietnam Cultural Center in France.

The event was organized by the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO in coordination with the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO and the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province to promote the cultural, historical and spiritual values ​​of the Complex of Monuments and Landscapes being nominated for consideration for recognition as a World Cultural Heritage at the 47th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, taking place in Paris in July 2025.

On this occasion, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu said that the nomination dossier is the result of 13 years of research, conservation and cooperation efforts between scientists, heritage experts and the authorities of the three provinces of Quang Ninh, Bac Giang and Hai Duong. Heritage is not only historical evidence but also demonstrates spiritual depth, connecting people with nature - factors that make up the Vietnamese identity.

The Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Vietnam has seriously accepted the opinions and recommendations of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) on clarifying the outstanding universal value of heritage and the work of heritage management and conservation.

Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet emphasized that Truc Lam Buddhism - founded by Emperor Tran Nhan Tong - is a harmonious combination of Mahayana Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism and Vietnamese cultural traditions, promoting the values ​​of peace, harmony and reconciliation.

On the local side, Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh said that the heritage is a sacred cultural landscape with synchronous planning, including hundreds of pagodas, temples, towers and ancient relics spread across three provinces, connecting into a unified entity both in space and spirituality. The Vice Chairwoman affirmed the commitment of the three provinces in preserving and honoring the values ​​of the heritage.

In the context of today's turbulent world, the thoughts of Buddhist Emperor Tran Nhan Tong on peace, reconciliation and harmony still have profound contemporary significance. Vietnam hopes that the dossier will be welcomed and recorded, contributing to the preservation of a valuable heritage not only for Vietnam but also for the international community.
