The book space and reading culture of Dong Nai province is expected to bring a different choice: Turning reading, which is considered dry, into a cultural experience journey for people, especially young people in the province.
Meeting point connecting the book-loving community
Deputy Director of Dong Nai Library Vo Xuan Le said: Currently, the Provincial Library has basically completed the construction of the Project on Book Space and Reading Culture of Dong Nai Province. This space is expected to be built in an outdoor area, within the premises of the library, Tan Trieu Ward. This is an open space, creating favorable conditions for readers to have a unique "location", both to visit, enjoy the architecture and surrounding atmosphere, have fun, read books, buy books and check-in.
Not only stopping at displaying and introducing library books, the book space aims to be close to community life. There will be a reading area, a common living space to organize author-reader exchanges, thematic discussions, community book readings, etc. Thereby, forming a meeting place for those who love reading culture, creating an environment for readers to meet and discuss their favorite works.
The project also provides an area for publishing units and bookstores to display and introduce publications by topic. This approach helps readers access new books faster, while creating opportunities for publishers to promote their products and interact directly with readers. In addition, the old book area and additional items for entertainment and recreation needs are also reasonably arranged, contributing to increasing the attractiveness of the entire space.
Mr. Vo Xuan Le emphasized: “The book and reading culture space is not only a place to display knowledge products but also an interactive environment, nurturing reading habits, especially for young people. This is an important step to help Dong Nai continue to build a community of book lovers, spread reading culture, and improve the spiritual life of the people.”
Spreading the beauty of cultural knowledge
As a reader who has been attached to Dong Nai Library for many years and also spent a lot of time researching and compiling books about President Ho Chi Minh , Mr. Ha Lam Danh (residing in Van Hai hamlet, Long Thanh commune) expressed his wish that the province would soon deploy and maintain a fixed reading culture space, bearing the local mark. This space does not need to be as large as a book street, just a well-planned area with small counters for bookstores and publishing units to introduce new publications; at the same time, a separate corner for old books and a corner for young people to interact... is enough to attract readers.
According to Mr. Ha Lam Danh, recently, Dong Nai has organized many book fairs and book exhibitions in parks and public cultural spaces. These programs attract a large number of participants, but the duration is short, usually only 1-2 weeks. Therefore, he hopes for a fixed space for books and reading culture, operating regularly, so that people have a place to go every day; at the same time, it will become a "cultural stop" for tourists when coming to Dong Nai.
With the expectation that the open reading culture space will become a familiar stop, attracting people to books, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Library Vo Xuan Le said: In the coming time, the unit will continue to coordinate with the Department of Education and Training, schools in the province to bring students to the library to participate in extracurricular activities, helping them access books through visual experiences. If on schedule, the book and reading culture space of Dong Nai province is expected to be completed and put into operation in April 2026, becoming a new highlight in the cultural life of Dong Nai people.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has sent a document to the Provincial Library to advise on the Project of Book Space and Reading Culture in Dong Nai Province. The Department requested the Provincial Library to continue to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to advise on the development of the project at the library campus, and submit it to the Department for appraisal before submitting it to the Provincial People's Committee for approval according to regulations.

Currently, Dong Nai Library is maintaining its operations, serving readers at 2 locations (Tan Trieu Ward and Binh Phuoc Ward). In addition to organizing book rotation, Dong Nai Library is actively coordinating with local schools such as Tan Xuan Secondary School (Binh Phuoc Ward), Xuan Thanh Primary School (Dau Giay Commune) ... to organize a Mobile Library model, bringing books to students to develop reading skills and spread the love of books in schools.
