Everyone has their own memories of their teachers. These could be the dedication in their lessons, the proud look in their eyes when we achieve good results, the encouraging smile when we stumble, or sometimes the strict admonition that helps us grow. For me, that special memory is the first time I scored 9 in Math – a score I previously thought I would never achieve.
After finishing 10th grade in my hometown, I moved with my family to the South and continued my studies in 11th and 12th grades at a school in the town. The new environment, new teachers, new friends… all of it made me anxious. But what weighed most heavily on my mind were the science subjects, especially Math – a subject where I had almost no foundation, not knowing where to begin. Then, luck smiled upon me when I met Ms. Thao.
The year I enrolled was also the year she graduated, and she was assigned to teach Math at that school, including my 11th grade A8 class. Many people thought that a young teacher would easily be discouraged by our mischievous class. But it was completely the opposite. She brought to class not only solid knowledge but also enthusiasm, meticulousness, and a professional demeanor that captivated the whole class. During her Math lessons, the whole class listened attentively – even the usually mischievous students became more focused.
I've never found math so fascinating. Before, math class was a nightmare because I couldn't understand anything, but now, I'm completely engrossed in her lectures. I'm starting to memorize theorems, definitions, and explore special formulas – things I previously thought I couldn't grasp. Thanks to her teaching style, seemingly impossible problems suddenly became clear. And then, something I least expected happened: I solved a spatial geometry problem and scored 9 points in math.
For many, that score wasn't a big deal. But for me – someone who used to be terrified every time I went into math class – it was a turning point. That test became a huge source of motivation, helping me gradually overcome my insecurities. I realized that with the right guidance and more hard work, we can absolutely conquer things we once thought impossible. I became more confident, not only in my studies but also in my future choices. To this day, her teachings, sharing, and encouragement have become invaluable assets that have accompanied me throughout my life.
This November, as the first chilly winds arrive, I remember her – the one who changed my entire school life. She's no longer teaching, but the mark she left behind will never fade. In these special moments, I can only express my heartfelt gratitude: thank you for believing in me, for lifting me up when I thought I couldn't go on any longer. May she always find peace and happiness on the path she has chosen.
