Accelerate the transition to E10 biofuel business.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade's roadmap, from June 1, 2026, unleaded gasoline meeting current national technical standards will have to be blended into E10 bio-gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide. E5 RON 92 gasoline will continue to be produced and sold until the end of 2030.

This is an important step towards promoting the green energy transition, reducing emissions, increasing the use of biofuels, and contributing to ensuring energy security and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Some businesses are implementing the plan ahead of schedule.

In Dong Nai city, several petroleum businesses have taken the lead in implementing the sale of E10 gasoline 10-15 days earlier than scheduled. Specifically, Petrolimex Dong Nai Co., Ltd. (Tran Bien ward) proactively carried out this conversion ahead of the planned schedule.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lai, Deputy Director of Petrolimex Dong Nai Co., Ltd., stated: To ensure the continuous operation of gas stations during the transition to E10 bioethanol fuel, the company is implementing a phased conversion at its stations. Accordingly, all gas stations, pumps, and dispensers currently selling conventional gasoline (RON 95-III and RON 95-V) are being converted to E10 bioethanol fuel (E10 RON 95-III and E10 RON 95-V). As of May 21st, the company had converted 50 out of 62 gas stations in its system, and it is expected that all of the company's gas stations will switch to selling E10 fuel before May 25th, 2026.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lai, Petrolimex Dong Nai is ready and has fully prepared the technical conditions for its storage tanks and pumps, which have been inspected and maintained simultaneously during the transition period to meet the requirements for selling E10 gasoline. The company has maximized sales and completely emptied existing stock in the tanks before importing E10 gasoline, ensuring the quality of the E10 gasoline and conducting sample testing before selling the product.

The storage tanks and fuel pumps are inspected and maintained according to regulations, meeting the requirements for selling E10 gasoline. The company also affixes product labels, identification marks, and markings on the inlet nozzle, pump nozzle, pump column, price list, etc., for E10 RON 95-III and E10 RON 95-V gasoline in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of Petrolimex Group.

Previously, on May 15th, Vietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL), a member of the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group ( Petrovietnam ), officially launched the sale of E10 bioethanol fuel. This initiative was implemented simultaneously at nearly 1,000 of the company's gas stations nationwide.

In addition, other petroleum businesses in Dong Nai province are currently proactively reviewing and improving their technical infrastructure, storage tanks, pumps, vehicles, and necessary technical conditions to transition to selling E10 bioethanol fuel according to the prescribed roadmap from June 1, 2026.

Tran Thanh Tung, Director of Tin Nghia Petroleum Joint Stock Company (Tran Bien Ward), shared: The company has now prepared all the necessary technical conditions to switch to selling E10 bioethanol gasoline for all its affiliated stores according to the prescribed roadmap from June 1, 2026.

Strengthen communication with consumers.

E10 is a type of biofuel that blends 10% fuel ethanol (bioethanol) with 90% traditional mineral gasoline. Ethanol is primarily produced from bio-based materials such as cassava, sugarcane, and corn, and is therefore considered a renewable fuel. According to many experts, E10 gasoline has many advantages, is competitively priced, and offers greater environmental and energy security benefits compared to previous types of mineral gasoline.

Following the initial phase of the transition at some petroleum companies, many consumers have gradually shifted from initial apprehension about using the new type of gasoline to increasing trust in using E10 gasoline to contribute to reducing emissions and protecting the environment.

The Department of Industry and Trade of Dong Nai City requests that gasoline and diesel fuel businesses in the area strictly implement the conversion to selling E10 bioethanol fuel from June 1, 2026; ensuring smooth and stable fuel supply, preventing any disruptions to meet the consumption needs of people and businesses. In addition, they must publicly display the selling prices and types of fuel as regulated; ensure the quality of goods circulating in the market; and cooperate with state management agencies in disseminating information and encouraging the use of bioethanol fuel.

Mr. Thanh Giang (from Trang Dai ward) shared: "Initially, when some gas stations switched to selling E10 gasoline, I was a little surprised because I was used to using RON 95 mineral gasoline. However, after consulting information on newspapers and receiving promotion from gas stations, I gradually got used to using the new E10 bio-gasoline."

“Using E10 gasoline offers many environmental benefits. To help more consumers understand the benefits of using E10 gasoline, I hope that relevant authorities and petroleum businesses will strengthen their efforts in disseminating information and raising awareness about the transition roadmap, benefits, and effective use of E10 gasoline, thereby helping consumers become aware of and embrace this new type of biofuel,” Mr. Thanh Giang expressed.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lai added: The transition process at Petrolimex Dong Nai's stores has been quite smooth. The supply of E10 gasoline has always been ensured by Petrolimex Group in a sufficient and timely manner, and many customers have happily welcomed the use of the new, environmentally friendly fuel. The company has also implemented a communication plan about the E10 gasoline business program throughout the system from the end of April 2026, as well as strengthening information about the transition through mass media.

In order to effectively implement the roadmap for transitioning to E10 biofuel business, contributing to ensuring energy security, protecting the environment, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and achieving green growth goals in the city, the Department of Industry and Trade has requested the People's Committees of communes and wards, along with relevant units, to strengthen information and communication efforts regarding the policy on developing biofuels; to disseminate the benefits of E10 biofuel for the environment, vehicle engines, energy security, and sustainable development, thereby creating consensus among the people and the business community.

Simultaneously, conduct propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage organizations and individuals engaged in the petroleum business in the area to seriously implement the roadmap for converting to E10 biofuel business as regulated; intensify propaganda through mass media, digital platforms, and appropriate social networks to raise public awareness, gradually change consumption habits, and encourage the use of biofuels in accordance with the Government's policy.
