From May 22nd to 25th, 2026, the People's Committee of Tam Dao commune, in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province, will solemnly organize a series of activities to inaugurate the 2026 summer tourism season with the theme "Tam Dao - a meeting point in the clouds".

This is not only the opening festival for the peak tourist season, but also an important event aimed at stimulating demand, promoting, and affirming the new position of local tourism on the national tourism map.

The highlight of this year's series of events is a vibrant cultural and tourism space vividly recreated right in the heart of the mountain town.

Along the pedestrian streets, more than 50 attractively decorated stalls showcase a full range of products, from traditional dishes and OCOP (One Commune One Product) products to regional specialties, handicrafts, and souvenirs bearing the distinctive local character of the ancestral land as well as many other localities across the country.

Beyond just food and shopping, the organizers cleverly incorporated unique photo-taking areas, cultural and artistic exchange stages, and activities introducing tours and travel routes, creating an incredibly vibrant atmosphere that warmed up the misty landscape of Tam Dao.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Tho province, Nguyen Khac Hieu, emphasized that in its strategic orientation, Phu Tho province is determined to develop Tam Dao into a high-quality resort, ecological, cultural, and experiential tourism center based on the criteria of green, clean, beautiful, and sustainable.

Therefore, this year's series of exhibitions and tourism promotion activities is a strong message reflecting innovative thinking and the aspiration to elevate the local brand.

This will create a solid foundation for Phu Tho to become a national center for cultural and festival tourism, and a leading destination for large-scale events in the Northern Midlands and mountainous region, gradually expanding its reach internationally.

To realize that grand vision, Mr. Nguyen Khac Hieu called on every resident of Tam Dao to uphold a sense of responsibility and pride in their homeland, proactively becoming friendly, civilized, and compassionate "tourism ambassadors" to leave a beautiful impression on tourists.

In recent years, Tam Dao has gradually become a popular choice for tourists from the North on weekends or during the summer thanks to its cool climate year-round, picturesque mountain scenery, and convenient travel distance.

During the recent holiday period, the number of visitors to the area increased sharply. According to local statistics, the entire commune welcomed approximately 28,316 visitors, with Tam Dao Tourist Area alone accounting for more than 27,000.

In many central streets, restaurants, cafes, and accommodation establishments are bustling with business from morning till night.

The continuous stream of people flocking to the mountain town not only reflects the growing appeal of Tam Dao but also shows that tourism is gradually becoming an important economic development driver for the locality.

In addition to local activities, many accommodation establishments are also proactively improving the quality of their services to meet the growing demand for vacationing.

The coordinated efforts from local authorities and tourism businesses are contributing to increased expectations for this year's summer tourism season, while also opening up opportunities to boost services, trade, and employment for local people.

Infrastructure pressure during peak tourist season.

However, behind the vibrant picture of the summer tourist season, Tam Dao is still facing considerable pressure regarding transportation infrastructure, the environment, and service management as it enters the peak season for receiving visitors.

During the recent April 30th and May 1st holidays, the number of vehicles flocking to the tourist area increased dramatically, causing localized traffic congestion on central roads at many times.

On National Highway 2B (the main road leading to the town), traffic density is high from morning to night, especially during the late hours of the day.

According to reports, during the two peak days, one traffic accident occurred on the road to Tam Dao, resulting in damage to a vehicle.

Although there were no casualties, the incident highlights the increasing traffic pressure during the peak winter season.

Tam Dao has been awarded the title of "World's Leading Tourist Destination 2024".

To mitigate congestion, the police and other relevant agencies have intensified traffic management and regulation at points prone to traffic jams. However, the reality shows that the transportation infrastructure in Tam Dao is still at risk of being overloaded, especially in the evenings, on weekends, and during holidays.

Many tourists have reported that finding parking is quite difficult, and travel times are longer than usual. At many times, long lines of traffic on central roads somewhat negatively impact the tourist experience.

Along with traffic congestion, local authorities are also strengthening the management of tourism service businesses during the peak season.

Accommodation establishments generally comply strictly with regulations on temporary residence registration; food safety and hygiene are ensured through awareness campaigns and signed commitments with food businesses and food production facilities.

Nguyen Manh Tuan, Secretary of the Tam Dao Commune Party Committee, directed the implementation of key tasks to promote local tourism development.

In addition, authorities are also stepping up inspections of businesses operating under specific conditions to ensure a safe and healthy tourism environment.

During an inspection on April 30, 2026, a karaoke establishment in Bao Phac village was found to be operating without adequate security and order standards and is currently being processed according to regulations.

According to local guidelines, tourism activities in 2026 will continue to be organized in a professional, safe, and sustainable manner; focusing on service quality, environmental hygiene, and preserving the destination's image instead of chasing after quantity.
