Expecting Quang Tri to develop commensurate with its internal strength

The Prime Minister affirmed that Quang Tri does not lack development potential and that turning potential into strength and into reality depends on the people of Quang Tri.

On the morning of July 27, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh worked with the Standing Committee of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee on the results of the implementation of tasks in the first 6 months of 2025, directions and tasks for the coming time, resolving recommendations and proposals, creating conditions and motivation for Quang Tri to develop breakthroughs.

At the working session, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the results achieved by the province in the first 6 months of the year, and at the same time pointed out the shortcomings and required Quang Tri to develop with internal resources, have breakthrough thinking and organize implementation resolutely and effectively.

The Prime Minister pointed out that Quang Tri has "sun and wind" which were two very harsh conditions in the past, but are also advantages now because it has technology to develop renewable energy; the advantage of this land is the narrowest point of the country for international connection; all means of transportation go through the province: there are airports, seaports, railways, national highways, Ho Chi Minh road, expressways, waterway systems. If the Party, government and people do not promote to escape poverty and get rich, they will be guilty to the country, guilty to the more than 76,000 martyrs who have fallen on this land.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Quang Tri does not lack development potential and that turning potential into strength and into reality depends on the people of Quang Tri; we must unite, be united, and once united, we need to be more united, once we have tried, we need to try harder, and once we have tried, we need to try even harder, more effectively, to achieve results that can be "weighed, measured, counted", "only discuss doing, not retreating".

The Prime Minister especially noted Quang Tri in selecting priority investment portfolios. Key projects such as My Thuy port, Quang Tri airport, Cam Lo - Lao Bao highway, and power plants need to be focused on removing difficulties, have clear mechanisms to attract investment and implement quickly and effectively.

Commenting on the province's recommendations and proposals, the Prime Minister requested to urgently develop specific projects with appropriate and feasible priority order, and at the same time review and propose to handle stuck and prolonged projects.

The Prime Minister directed to complete the North-South expressway project and coastal road in the area; focus on quickly implementing the My Thuy port project which has been approved for investment; at the same time, study the planning and development of a free trade zone and specialized port in My Thuy; study the railway route from My Thuy port to Lao Bao border gate, connecting with Laos, Thailand, and the trans-Asia railway.

To connect the road between My Thuy port with the North-South expressway and the two Lao Bao and La Lay border gates, the Prime Minister requested Quang Tri province to urgently invest in the Cam Lo - Lao Bao expressway under the public-private partnership model; invest in the 92-km-long National Highway 15D connecting My Thuy port to La Lay border gate with a 4-lane expressway scale using many forms of investment and capital sources, including increased revenue and cost savings.

Rapidly build 100 schools in border communes

On the evening of July 27, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting with ministries and branches to deploy a campaign to build schools and boarding houses for students and teachers in border communes across the country. The Prime Minister pointed out that Conclusion 81 of the Politburo on the policy of investing in building schools for border communes is a major decision with profound political and social significance; it must be urgently implemented, including rapid and bold implementation to complete the construction of 100 schools in border communes before August 30, 2026.
