After nearly 25 years, from the initial industrial park (IP) Phan Thiet phase 1 with a scale of 68 hectares, until now, Binh Thuan has 9 industrial zones approved by the Prime Minister and included in the development planning with a total area of more than 3.000 hectares.
According to the Management Board of Binh Thuan Industrial Parks, the province currently has 6 industrial zones with a total area of 1.093,43 hectares that have been investing in building technical infrastructure, ensuring conditions for secondary enterprises to seek investment opportunities. For the remaining 3 IPs including Son My I Industrial Park (1.070 ha) and Tan Duc (300 ha), in the investment implementation phase, Son My II Industrial Park (540 ha) is continuing to complete the dossier to submit to the Prime Minister for approval of the investment policy. In particular, these are all industrial zones with large area, multi-industry and very close to the provinces of Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau...
By mid-2023, industrial zones in the province have attracted 86 valid secondary projects with a total investment of nearly 16.000 billion VND and hundreds of millions of USD. It is known that the area of industrial land for lease is more than 270 hectares and the occupancy rate of industrial parks has been about 37%, of which 66 projects have been put into production and business operations. However, Mr. Phung Huu Cu - Head of Binh Thuan Industrial Parks Management Board said that the occupancy rate in the province's IPs is still low, the majority of secondary projects are small and medium sized, the investment rate is not high with an average of about 42 billion VND/ha… The limitation and existence is mainly due to the lack of infrastructure, especially the external traffic in the province, which has not been completed before, but now the bottlenecks have been different because of the "local" locations.
The fact that since the highway section Dau Giay - Phan Thiet, Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao was officially put into use, really opens up new opportunities and prospects to boost the province's economy. Especially, Binh Thuan tourism is the earliest beneficiary industry with data recorded in the last two months (May and June 5) both receiving a high number of visitors with more than 6 arrivals/month… That's why at the Workshop on solutions to promote investment promotion activities in industrial zones in Binh Thuan province held at the end of last month, many opinions expressed optimism about attracting projects in the local industrial sector.
Because in addition to the seamless highway route through the province, Binh Thuan also has Vinh Tan deep-water port, currently preparing to invest in Phan Thiet airport, general port and Son My LNG gas terminal, etc. So the seminar was held in Ho Chi Minh City. Phan Thiet is an opportunity to introduce potentials, opportunities, connect investment in industrial zones of the province when the transport infrastructure in Binh Thuan is gradually fully invested. Here, not only investors in industrial park infrastructure in the province, but also representatives of the Southern Investment Promotion Center (under the Ministry of Planning and Investment), the Management Board of Export Processing Zones - Industrial Parks and some potential investors from Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh also highly appreciates the potential and advantages of the locality. Thereby, it is expected that in the near future, industrial zones in Binh Thuan can attract investment projects such as welcoming a high number of tourists to the locality in recent months.
In order to make good use of the opportunity to attract projects to industrial zones, Binh Thuan is committed to continuing to reform administrative procedures and accompanying businesses in site clearance, removing difficulties and obstacles, ensuring security and order at the investment project area, etc. Along with that, it also shows hospitality, respects and understands partners, is ready to welcome investors and businesses from both domestic and foreign sectors. Since then, contributing to making Binh Thuan an ideal investment destination, creating favorable conditions for industrial zones in the province to soon attract projects to fill the leased area and towards sustainable development.
