According to a report by BVSC Securities Company, interest rates at commercial banks have decreased to about 50% compared to the peak in late 2022 and early 2023.

However, since the beginning of July, 5 banks have increased deposit interest rates, including:

The Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (VCBNeo) increased its interest rate for deposits with terms of 1-7 months by 0.2% per year; Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) increased its interest rate for deposits with terms of 1-36 months by 0.1% per year; Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( Techcombank ) increased its interest rate for deposits with terms of 1-36 months by 0.1-0.2% per year;

Tien Phong Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( TPBank ) increased 0.2%/year interest rate for 1-3 month term deposits and increased 0.1%/year interest rate for 6-36 month term deposits; Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Eximbank) increased 0.1%/year interest rate for 12 month term deposits.

On the contrary, Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( Bac A Bank ) reduced deposit interest rates by 0.1%/year for terms from 1-36 months.

Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB) reduced 0.1%/year interest rate for 36-month term deposits at the counter from 1 billion VND to under 5 billion VND.

Bao Viet Commercial Joint Stock Bank (BaoViet Bank) has adjusted its savings interest rates down by 0.15-0.2%/year for terms of 6-13 months.

Regarding average lending interest rates in June or July, VietNamNet statistics show that 20 banks announced that they had reduced interest rates compared to the previous month.

Banks leading in reducing lending interest rates include: ABBank, BaoViet Bank, Techcombank, TPBank, VIB, Viet A Bank, BVBank and OCB.

Notably, the average lending interest rates of banks as of June were all below 9%/year.

According to the report of the State Bank of Vietnam, in the week from July 21 to 25, the State Bank of Vietnam has strongly injected a net amount of VND 69,855 billion in the OMO market. Through the term purchase transaction, the State Bank of Vietnam injected VND 173,701.21 billion (terms of 7, 14, 28, 91 days, interest rate of 4%/year), while VND 110,846 billion issued previously matured.

The State Bank of Vietnam did not issue new treasury bills, the amount of treasury bills in circulation decreased to 0. Meanwhile, the amount of OMO in circulation reached 210,862 billion VND.

Interbank interest rates for overnight, 1-week, and 2-week terms are respectively 6.5%/year; 6.47%/year; 6.45%/year. These bank interest rates increased by 1.49%/year; 1.53%/year and 1.45%/year respectively compared to the previous week.
