Caring for the poor
One of the outstanding achievements of the Tan Hiep commune's political system is caring for poor households and those in difficult circumstances, aiming for the goal of "leaving no one behind." Comrade Dinh Xuan Phuong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of the commune, stated: "The commune pays close attention to caring for poor households and people in difficult circumstances, with the support of organizations, individuals, and philanthropists. This creates motivation for poor households to strive to improve their lives, develop production, gradually escape poverty, and stabilize their livelihoods."
Over the years, the commune has effectively launched the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - No one left behind," and "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses"... From 2020 to the present, the commune has raised more than 6.3 billion VND for the poor, through which it has built and repaired 106 solidarity houses for poor, near-poor, and especially disadvantaged households.

New, spacious houses have become a source of support, helping people settle down and work and produce with peace of mind. A typical example is Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong Hoa (75 years old), residing in Dong An hamlet, who lived alone in a dilapidated house. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the local government and the Fatherland Front supported her in building a house with a budget of over 100 million VND from various contributions. Mrs. Hoa said: “I am truly happy and grateful to have a sturdy house to live in in my old age. The local government and Fatherland Front also gave me rice and gifts, which I am very touched by.”
Spreading the spirit of sharing
According to Comrade Do Thanh Cuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Hiep commune, in addition to the efforts of the Fatherland Front, the attention and guidance of the Party Committee and the coordination of the government play a very important role in mobilizing resources to care for the poor. "This has created trust and high consensus among the people, attracting many organizations and individuals to actively and voluntarily contribute to the commune's 'For the Poor' fund," Comrade Do Thanh Cuong stated.
Over the past five years, Tan Hiep commune has mobilized religious institutions and philanthropists to repair 17km of roads, build 13 concrete bridges, and distribute thousands of gifts to the people, with a total value of over 20.8 billion VND. During the COVID-19 pandemic alone, the commune provided over 9,000 gifts worth more than 6 billion VND, helping people overcome difficult times.
Currently, Tan Hiep commune is implementing many community-oriented activities. The commune's Fatherland Front has launched a project to build flower-lined roads, creating a green, clean, and beautiful landscape, contributing to changing the appearance of the rural area. Many collectives and individuals are accompanying the local government and the Fatherland Front in carrying out charitable programs and supporting poor students to attend school. A prime example is the Buu Son Red Cross Society, which has awarded dozens of scholarships to poor but studious students. Ms. Le Thuy My, a typical example of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings in Tan Hiep commune, donated 160 gifts worth over 41 million VND to poor and near-poor households on National Day, September 2nd. "Remembering President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, I try to do good with my small efforts, giving gifts to the people, hoping to work with the local government to bring joy and spread goodness on Independence Day," Ms. My shared.
Beyond providing housing and gifts, the political system of Tan Hiep commune focuses on supporting people with capital, livestock, and scientific and technical knowledge to develop production. Through various comprehensive solutions and the efforts of the people themselves, the poverty rate in the area has decreased from 2.09% in 2020 to 0.48%, and the near-poverty rate to 1.82%; the average per capita income has reached 78.2 million VND/year. Comrade Dinh Xuan Phuong affirmed: "The commune's political system has harnessed the strength of the entire population, creating high social consensus on social welfare and caring for the poor. People are increasingly determined to improve their lives, contributing to the flourishing appearance of their homeland."
