According to Spanish media, on the night of July 13, Lamine Yamal hired a dwarf to perform at his 18th birthday party at a villa in Olivella (a small town 50km from Barcelona).
This party witnessed friends, relatives as well as many of Yamal's teammates at Barcelona such as Robert Lewandowski, Alejandro Balde, Gavi or Raphinha...

Yamal’s hiring of a group of dwarves to entertain him has drawn fierce criticism from the public. The Spanish Association of Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias (ADEE) was extremely outraged. They condemned the 18-year-old for using disabled people for entertainment. ADEE stressed that Yamal’s behavior “violated moral values”.
“This action not only violates current laws but also goes against the basic moral values of an egalitarian and humane society,” the association stressed.
ADEE president Carolina Puente added: “It is unacceptable that in the 21st century, dwarfs continue to be used for entertainment at private parties. This is even more serious when it involves a public figure like Yamal.”
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the Spanish Ministry of Social Rights, Jesus Martin Blanco, also asked the Barcelona authorities to open an investigation. A member of the Spanish Federation of Physically and Organically Disabled People (COCEMFE), said that they are working to eliminate the culture of looking down on dwarfs.
Under current Spanish law, Yamal risks criminal prosecution with a sentence of up to four years in prison if he is found to have intentionally insulted a person with a disability. This is clearly stated in Spain's Law 15/2022 on Equality and Non-Discrimination, which was passed on July 12, 2022.
Article 3 emphasizes: “Any act that harms the dignity or creates an offensive, hostile, degrading or degrading environment for people with disabilities is considered discrimination.”

Article 28 further stipulates: “Organizing events that use physical characteristics of people with disabilities for entertainment, humor or derogatory purposes is strictly prohibited.”
Article 510 of the Spanish Penal Code states: “Anyone who publicly promotes, promotes or justifies acts of discrimination, hatred or violence against a person with a disability shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of one to four years and shall be prohibited from public employment for a term of one to six years.”
Meanwhile, RAC1 interviewed one of the dwarfs who performed at the party. He said: “We just asked to be allowed to work. We have clear contracts, we are free workers, everything is legal. I don’t understand why there is so much fuss.
What the Association is doing now will destroy us as artists. We want to do this. No one is forcing us. However, I don't understand why in the past 2-3 years, people have been digging up this issue."
Yamal is considered a bright prodigy of Spanish football. At the age of 18, this player has had a great influence at FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team. He has won many prestigious titles such as Euro 2024, La Liga, and the Spanish King's Cup. Yamal is considered a strong candidate in the race for the Golden Ball this year.
