Whether you are a history buff, a culture enthusiast or simply looking for a getaway, the city of Tiruchirappalli is worth experiencing.

Diverse experience

Many tourists believe that visiting Tiruchirappalli without visiting its majestic temples is like visiting Paris without checking in at the Eiffel Tower. Some of the famous temples in the city include Sri Ranganathaswamy, Jambukeswarar, Tiruchirapalli Rock Fort…

Among them, the 2,000-year-old Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple on Srirangam Island is one of the impressive attractions. The complex is about 63 hectares wide, including 21 pyramid-shaped temples in the Dravidian style.

Tiruchirappalli is famous for its many religious structures.

The Tiruchirappalli Hindu Temple and Rock Fort complex is free to enter and is a great place to enjoy the beautiful sunrise and sunset. Head south from the temple and rock fort complex to Gandhi Market. The vibrant green stalls and bustling life are the hallmarks of this traditional market.

If you love history, you must visit Rani Mangammal Mahal. The building was originally a palace built by the Madurai king Nayak Chokkanatha Nayak. Today, the area has become a museum, which visitors can visit from 10 am to 5 pm daily (except Friday).

Another interesting stop is the Kallanai Dam. This is India’s greatest engineering feat and one of the world’s oldest irrigation systems still in operation today.
