A wreath protest demanding BTS member Suga to leave the group after his controversial drunk driving incident took place.
Starting at 8:00 p.m. on August 13 (Korean time), a wreath protest calling for "Suga to leave BTS" took place in front of the HYBE building in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Protesters held up messages like "Min Yoongi, leave the group", "You are the one who let go of our hands" and "Before standing in the photo line", directly referring to Suga by his real name - Min Yoongi, in a way that was frustrating and uncomfortable for the audience.
An anonymous ARMY (BTS fandom name) who organized the protest told Korean media, "This is not a coordinated action by the entire fandom, as these wreaths were sent by individuals," adding, "We organized this protest because no action was taken after HYBE, Big Hit Music, and Suga made false statements."
Since Suga was caught drunk driving an electric scooter by police on August 6, criticism has grown. Fans have expressed disappointment after Big Hit Music and Suga called the scooter an "electric skateboard" and claimed he had only "had one beer," despite his blood alcohol level being measured at 0.227%, indicating significant intoxication.
Some ARMYs took to social media to demand Suga's departure from the group. However, posts from other ARMYs who continued to support and stand by Suga also emerged, leading to a heated debate within the fan community.
The ARMYs who organized this protest mentioned that if Big Hit Music does not release an additional statement, they will consider escalating the protest by organizing a truck protest.
