"This year is a special milestone as the whole country celebrates the 80th anniversary of National Day. The people of Thanh Ha pottery village are experimenting with new, trendy products to both celebrate the grand occasion and adapt designs to reflect daily life," a craftsman from Thanh Ha pottery village introduced to tourists on the morning of August 31st.
The commemoration ceremony for the village's founding ancestors is a religious activity organized annually by the government and the community of Hoi An ancient pottery village. This year, the event was held more solemnly over two days, August 31st and September 1st, because the craft village has been placed under the new management of Hoi An Tay ward after the merger.
On the first morning of the anniversary celebration, a large number of tourists flocked to check in and experience the event. Many were delighted to see trendy ceramic products inspired by Independence Day, such as bamboo vases adorned with the red flag with a yellow star, ceramic vases designed in the shape of the Hanoi flagpole, and various types of flower vases decorated with the map of Vietnam…
According to Bui Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An Tay ward, the Thanh Ha pottery village community is currently doing well thanks to combining pottery making with tourism.
On average, the craft village welcomes 300,000 to 400,000 visitors each year. Thanks to this good revenue, investment is being made in activities to honor and preserve the craft village.
Compared to other pottery villages nationwide, Thanh Ha pottery village is small in scale and produces a limited number of products for the market, but it attracts many tourists thanks to its storytelling ability.
This is also the most famous craft village in Da Nang , always leaving its own mark thanks to the raw, handcrafted pottery.
