The Provincial People's Court has just held a first-instance criminal trial and sentenced defendant Y Sam Son Nie (born 2001, residing in Cu Ne commune, Krong Buk district) to 20 years in prison for murder.
According to the indictment, at around 7:00 p.m. on April 25, 2023, Y Sam Son heard his nephew Y Hiar Nie (born in 2006, residing in the same commune) say that he was threatened to be beaten by Y TN (born in 2007, residing in the same commune). Immediately after that, Y Sam Son drove his motorbike to find YTN to talk.

At around 8:00 p.m. the same day, Y Sam Son discovered Y TN driving a motorbike on Ea Kung village road (Cu Ne commune) and called him back to talk but could not reach him. Seeing that, Y Sam Son chased after him, and after a while, Y TN stopped. Because he was angry that his nephew was threatened to be beaten, Y Sam Son took a nearby 47.5 cm long wooden stick and hit Y TN twice in the head and shoulder, causing the victim to collapse on the spot.
After committing the crime, Y Sam Son returned home. YTN was taken to the Krong Buk District Medical Center for emergency treatment by local people but died.
On April 26, Y Sam Son turned himself in to the Krong Buk District Police and confessed to all his crimes. According to the forensic examination conclusion, the cause of YTN's death was due to a fractured skull, intracranial hematoma, brain compression, and cerebral edema leading to irreversible cerebral shock.
