Leaders of Khammouane province are impressed by the new rural models of Ha Tinh.

Within the framework of a working trip to Ha Tinh province, on the morning of June 27, a delegation of high-ranking leaders of Khammouane province (Lao PDR) led by Comrade Van Xay Phong Sa Van - Secretary and Provincial Governor visited a number of new rural construction models in Vu Quang district.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau and leaders of relevant units and localities accompanied the delegation.

The delegation visited the residential area of Cua Linh village, Duc Linh commune; the bamboo rat breeding model in village 6, Duc Bong commune; and the Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang irrigation project.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau introduced the new rural construction program in Ha Tinh.

Vu Quang is the first mountainous border district in the country to meet the standards of a new rural district. With the characteristics of a mountainous district, households live in clusters on the hills (from 5, 7, 10 households), the district has launched a competition to build bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe - civilized residential clusters (currently there are 43 clusters). By 2022, the locality will upgrade to an ecological residential cluster with criteria from infrastructure, environment, production, security and order, insurance, culture...

In particular, households in the residential cluster live together, share, and help each other develop the economy ; there is a common living area. The implementation costs are entirely contributed by households in the cluster (including the renovation of works at the households and this common living area; households even donate land for construction....).

The primary goal of the model is for households in the cluster to benefit (from landscape, environment, income...) and to aim to create ecological highlights associated with community tourism development plans; agricultural and rural experience tourism.

The delegation visited the bamboo rat farming model in Duc Bong commune.

The delegation also visited the Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang irrigation project, a national key project with a capacity of 775 million m3 of water, one of the three largest reservoirs in Vietnam. This is a multi-purpose irrigation project, providing water for agriculture, industry, and hydropower business.

After completion, the reservoir has provided irrigation water for 32,585 hectares of agricultural land in 8 districts in Ha Tinh; combined with power generation with a capacity of 15MW, providing domestic water, reducing floods for downstream areas; serving and creating new momentum in socio-economic, agricultural and rural development.

During the visit, Vice Chairman of Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau and leaders of departments, branches and Vu Quang district discussed and shared with the high-ranking delegation of Khammouane province about the experience in the new rural construction program. Especially about the institutions, incentive and support policies of all levels in each stage; the new rural criteria at all levels; the role of Party organizations, authorities and mass organizations; the average income per capita of all communes and villages after reaching the new rural finish line...

During the visit, comrade Van Xay Phong Sa Van - Secretary, Governor of Khammouane province and members of the delegation expressed their impression with the results of new rural construction in Vu Quang district in particular and in Ha Tinh in general.

The delegation hopes that Ha Tinh will continue to share experiences and support localities in Khammouane province in the process of building new rural areas and developing agriculture and rural areas.
