In the last days of January, Lang Son city becomes more bustling than ever as tens of thousands of locals and tourists from all over flock to attend the Ky Cung - Ta Phu Temple Festival. This is considered the biggest cultural event in Lang Son, a place where spiritual beliefs and the characteristic hospitality of the people of the northeastern border region intersect.

Crowds of people flocked to Tran Dang Ninh street, leading from Ky Cung temple to Ta Phu temple.
A lively, festive atmosphere filled the streets.
The main part of the festival takes place on Tran Dang Ninh street, the section connecting Ky Cung Temple (Duong Kinh ward) to Ta Phu Temple (Ky Lua ward). In the cool highland weather with temperatures ranging from 19-21 degrees Celsius, crowds of people packed the pathways, creating a vibrant and lively scene.

Locals and tourists from all over flock to attend the biggest festival in Lang Son province.
In particular, the square in front of Ky Lua Market and Ky Lua pedestrian street are the most crowded areas. Here, not only are ceremonial activities taking place, but there is also enthusiastic participation from local businesses and families, creating a truly festive atmosphere.
Unique and one-of-a-kind party culture
The biggest difference that makes the Ky Cung - Ta Phu Temple Festival leave a strong impression on visitors is the tradition of setting up feasts right on the sidewalks. Along the main streets, locals and businesses voluntarily erect tents and set up trays full of specialties from Lang Son such as roasted pork, roasted duck, braised pork belly, etc.

Locals and businesses set up tents and feasts right by the roadside to invite tourists .
The owner of the venue didn't hesitate to play lively music and warmly invite even strangers to join in the fun. Regardless of whether they knew each other or not, tourists and locals alike enjoyed the food and danced enthusiastically to the music, creating a rare atmosphere of camaraderie.

Despite not knowing each other, tourists and locals alike danced together to welcome the festival.
Cultural activities and sightseeing experiences
The festival takes place from the 22nd to the 27th of the first lunar month with many unique folk cultural activities:
- Lion and dragon dances: Take place continuously on the main streets.
- Traditional folk games such as sli singing, luon singing, and lay co singing attract a large number of artisans to participate.
- Important rituals: The firecracker snatching activity and the procession of the palanquin from Ta Phu Temple back to Ky Cung Temple usually take place on the last day of the festival.

Cultural activities such as lion and dragon dances take place throughout the festival.
According to local experience, the evening of January 26th is usually the busiest time. However, depending on the annual schedule (such as this year due to the election), the authorities may hold the opening ceremony earlier to ensure everything runs smoothly.
The festival is not only an occasion for people to express gratitude for the contributions of their ancestors who helped to protect the border, but also a great opportunity for Lang Son to promote the image of its warm-hearted people and the cultural identity of the Northeast region to international friends.
