Often known as the home of Santa Claus and with landscapes reminiscent of the magical world of Narnia, Lapland in Finland is inviting visitors to put aside reindeer rides and join a summer gold rush.
Participants will explore the trails and landmarks of Levi in Lapland, famous for its winter ski slopes and aurora borealis views, where hunters try their luck at finding gold bars worth 20,000 euros (approximately 600 million VND).
The "Midnight Sun Hunt" gold hunt begins on June 18th at the Levi Visitor Center, according to a statement from Visit Levi. Participants can receive their first clue and register for the hunt at the center. Subsequent clues will then be shared, guiding hikers through trails, local attractions, and landmarks, each clue bringing them closer to the hidden prize.

Gold is included in a gold hunting competition to attract tourists.
The organizers said the gold bar could be found following any lead, with additional clues being given throughout the summer, gradually making it easier to locate the gold. The final clue is expected to be revealed on August 22, according to CNN.
Located above the Arctic Circle, Levi is renowned as one of Finland's premier ski destinations and a popular winter destination in Europe. During the summer months, the area experiences the midnight sun phenomenon, giving Lapland 24 hours of sunshine during certain periods.
"Levi is most famous for its winters, but the northern hemisphere summer is still largely undiscovered," said Satu Pesonen, CEO of Visit Levi, adding that the company wants to give visitors a new reason to visit Levi when the sun never sets and the mountain landscape reveals a completely different side.
Participants are instructed to move responsibly, stay within designated areas, and respect the natural environment. The organizers stated that the hunt does not require digging or disturbing the terrain in any way.
