At the launching ceremony, Dr. Le Thi Thao, Head of the Department of GeneralEducation and Vocational Education - Continuing Education, Department of Education and Training emphasized that in recent years, all levels, sectors and localities have focused on the care, education and protection of children.
However, in reality, there are still many children in difficult circumstances who have not received adequate attention and care; violence, abuse, and injuries still occur; in which drowning is one of the leading causes of death in children.
The number of children who died from drowning accidents was mainly between the ages of 6 and under 16; most of the children drowned when there were no adults around, they did not know how to swim, and did not proactively stay away from dangerous places. From 2021 to now, the province has recorded 245 children who died from drowning.

The Department of Education and Training recommends that educational institutions raise awareness among cadres, teachers, employees, students and parents in caring for and protecting children; focus on education to raise awareness and consciousness so that students know and comply with regulations on caring for and protecting themselves; promote coordination between schools, families and society in caring for and protecting children; participate in training courses, promote the movement of teaching safe swimming to students in schools.
The Department of Education and Training also hopes that all levels, sectors, units, localities and the community will pay more attention to the work of educating, caring for and protecting children to prevent child abuse, injuries, drowning, etc.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Quan, Principal of La Van Cau Primary School (Ea Kar District) stated that teaching swimming to students is one of the annual activities of the school. During the ceremony, delegates also visited the mobile swimming pool on the campus of La Van Cau Primary School and recorded the actual teaching and learning of swimming for students at the school.

At the launching ceremony, sponsors awarded 72 swimming scholarships to students with a total value of 36 million VND.
