Memorial ceremony for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at Yen Tu

On July 24, at Truc Lam Palace, Yen Tu scenic relic site, Uong Bi city, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Quang Ninh province held a memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, expressing condolences over the passing of the General Secretary.

1,000 delegates, monks, nuns, Buddhists and people attended the memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at Truc Lam Yen Tu Palace.

The memorial ceremony was attended by leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh province, leaders of Uong Bi city, representatives of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Quang Ninh province, along with about 1,000 monks, nuns, Buddhists, people, and representatives of agencies and businesses in Uong Bi city.

Delegates observed a minute of silence, lit incense sticks, and prayed for the soul of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to return to the world of the virtuous; prayed for national peace, world peace , and people's happiness.

Buddhists and people expressed their condolences at the passing of the General Secretary.

Yen Tu relic site was honored to welcome General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong twice. The first time was on December 13, 2008, when he visited Yen Tu in his capacity as Chairman of the National Assembly. The second time was on April 6, 2022, when he visited Yen Tu as General Secretary. During his visits, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong left in the hearts of monks, nuns, and Buddhists deep respect and trust. With the profound wisdom of an outstanding leader, the cultural level of a great intellectual, the simple and harmonious lifestyle, and the behavior of a great personality, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will forever be remembered by the people.
