According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, LG Uplus, one of the country's major mobile carriers, has just launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) agent called ixi-O AI Assistant.
This product is the result of a collaboration with Google, integrating the latest Large Language Modeling (LLM) and search technologies from the American corporation.
The South Korean company stated that the ixi-O AI assistant is developed based on Gemini 2.5 Flash Live, Google's latest LLM model, enabling two-way text and voice interaction with the Gemini chatbot with low latency.
This AI agent is also integrated with Google Search to provide more accurate and up-to-date answers, along with citations from verified sources.
By combining LG Uplus's proprietary AI model with Google's LLM, the ixi-O AI assistant can summarize phone conversations, assist in organizing them, and offer conversation suggestions based on those summaries.
Furthermore, this AI assistant can understand the context of a call in real time and provide relevant information when needed. When a user says "Hey, ixio" during a call or presses the call button, the AI will join the conversation to find information and share the results.
LG Uplus says it will gather user feedback through beta testing until the end of this year, before a full rollout from the first half of next year.
In addition, the South Korean company also plans to expand its collaboration with Google into the field of actionable AI, aiming for the ability to not only provide information but also automatically perform tasks and make decisions based on new data.
LG Uplus also announced plans to introduce AI agent subscription packages later this month, bundled with Google One, an expanded storage service on Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos.
