This is not only a personal achievement for Nguyen Anh Minh, but also a historical milestone for Vietnamese golf. From a country where golf is still in the process of development, Vietnamese golf for the first time has a representative participating in the final of the world's most prestigious junior tournament organized by the United States Golf Association (USGA).
In the semi-final that just ended, Anh Minh faced Qiyou Wu, a representative from China. The Vietnamese golfer had an explosive start, leading to 5 Up after only 6 holes, creating an overwhelming advantage over his opponent.
Although Wu tried to shorten the gap, Anh Minh still maintained a stable performance and closed the match at hole 15 with a 4&3 victory, thereby advancing straight to the final.
In the quarter-final match the same day before, Vietnam's No. 1 golfer showed his bravery and coolness when he defeated the host American golfer Nicholas Gross with a score of 3&1.

The 2025 US Junior Amateur takes place from July 21 to 26 at Trinity Forest Golf Club (Texas, USA), bringing together 256 young golfers from 32 countries, many of whom are in the top group of the World Amateur Rankings (WAGR).
From the qualifying round, Anh Minh successively overcame the harsh stages: top 64, top 32, top 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals, to become the first Vietnamese golfer to participate in the finals of a tournament organized by the USGA.
The final opponent on Anh Minh’s journey to the top is Hamilton Coleman, representing the host country, the United States. The final match will take place at 7:45 p.m. on July 26 (Vietnam time), in a 36-hole format, considered a “marathon” that requires both physical strength and perseverance.

The US Junior Amateur was founded in 1948 and is the world's most prestigious junior tournament organized by the United States Golf Association (USGA). The tournament has witnessed many champions who later became superstars or big names such as Tiger Woods (15 majors in a record 82 PGA Tour cups), Jordan Spieth (three majors in 13 PGA Tour cups), and world number one Scottie Scheffler, who just won The Open 2025.
The prize for this year's champion, in addition to the Cup and medal from the USGA, is a qualifying exemption at the next US Junior Amateur; a special entry to the 2025 and 2026 US Amateur; and an invitation to the 2026 US Open (as an amateur).
