In the round of 32 of the Porto 2025 Billiards World Cup (playing from the afternoon of July 3 to the early morning of July 4), there were 6 Vietnamese players, including: Tran Quyet Chien, Bao Phuong Vinh, Tran Thanh Luc, Chiem Hong Thai, Dao Van Ly and Thon Viet Hoang Minh. Accordingly, Tran Quyet Chien unexpectedly stopped early. In 3-cushion Carom, Vietnam only had 1 name to pass the round of 32, Dao Van Ly.
Tran Quyet Chien lost 29-40 to Bao Phuong Vinh in the opening match, then beat Peter Ceulemans (Belgium) 40-38. But in the decisive match, Vietnam's number 1 player lost to Nikos Polychro (Greece) with a score of 27-40. Meanwhile, Dao Van Ly played very well to pass the round of 32 with a perfect record, topping the table. Van Ly defeated Thon Viet Hoang Minh, Korean prodigy Cho Myung-woo and Costa (Portugal).
In the round of 16, Dao Van Ly will face Sergio Jimenez (Spain). Dao Van Ly is in good form and is expected to continue to defeat his opponent to advance further at the 2025 Porto Billiards World Cup. The match between Van Ly and Jimenez will take place at 8:30 p.m. today (July 4, Vietnam time).
Dao Van Ly played brilliantly in round 32, becoming the only hope of Vietnamese billiards in round 16.

Frederic Caudron is in Group A with current world number 1 Dick Jaspers (Netherlands) and Kim Haeng-jik (South Korea). The Belgian genius also passed the round of 32 with a perfect record. The 1968-born player beat Jaspers 40-35 and Kim Haeng-jik 40-14.
Caudron will face Glenn Hofman (Netherlands) in the round of 16, kicking off at 6 p.m. (Vietnam time).
