International Dance Festival

On the evening of August 17th, at the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Cultural and Cinema Center, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, organized the opening ceremony of the "International Dance Festival - 2024".

The festival will take place from August 17th to 22nd. The organizing committee will award gold and silver medals to performances of high artistic quality based on the evaluation results of the Art Council.

Held every three years, the International Dance Festival aims to promote cooperation in the field of culture and arts between Vietnam and countries around the world .

The International Dance Festival is also a gathering place for the diverse cultural essence of countries around the world through the art of dance; at the same time, it is an opportunity for Vietnamese and international dance artists to share experiences in artistic creation, exchange and absorb unique and diverse values ​​of cultural art forms in the era of integration and development.

The International Dance Festival brought together nearly 500 artists and performers from 17 art troupes representing 9 countries, including Laos, the Philippines, China, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and host country Vietnam.

With the message "Convergence, Creativity - Shining Together," the international dance festival is a place where artists and performers from both within and outside the country can freely express their creativity and dedicate their artistic talents to presenting the audience with the most outstanding dance performances.

According to the regulations, works participating in the festival belong to genres such as short dances, dance poems, dance suites, short dance dramas, etc., in folk, classical, and modern styles.

The participating works are of high artistic quality, clearly expressing the content, ideas, and artistic imagery of the work to the public through elements such as: work structure, dance language structure, music treatment, character portrayal, techniques in handling space and time, props, and acting techniques for the performers.

Costumes and makeup should be appropriate to the purpose, content, and artistic imagery of the work, the cultural traditions of each region, ethnic group, and nation, and in keeping with Vietnamese culture.

Furthermore, the Organizing Committee encourages new compositions that strongly reflect the cultural identity of various ethnic groups and nations, authentically, profoundly, and vividly portraying the colorful life of society and its people; works that demonstrate exploration and creativity in form of expression, and the combination with other art forms to enrich the expressive possibilities of dance works.
