Golden snakes spitting out money, snakes coiled around five-blessing gold bars, golden apricot blossoms, golden pink peach blossoms... these are some of the unique gold-plated products crafted by a business in preparation for the Lunar New Year of the Snake.
A business specializing in gold-plated Tet gifts in Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City, is rushing to prepare orders for customers. According to the branch manager, many unique gift items have been sought after and ordered early by businesses and consumers, especially models featuring snake-shaped mascots... Twenty snake figurines, available in various sizes, will be launched for the 2025 Lunar New Year market. All are made of solid bronze and plated with 24K gold. The unique finished products include a 38cm tall snake (priced at 18 million VND) and the smallest statue, measuring 15cm tall, priced at 7 million VND. According to Mr. Dinh Quang Thang, the product designs were meticulously conceived and crafted. Most of the designs for the Year of the Snake (2015) feature the image of a cobra, symbolizing bravery and power. Many customers are interested in designs featuring golden snakes spitting out money, snakes coiled around gold ingots symbolizing good fortune, and various other auspicious symbols like scepters and money bags, all believed to bring luck and prosperity in the new year. In Eastern culture, snakes are symbols of good fortune, wealth, and wisdom, representing rebirth, transformation, and powerful resurgence. The exquisite carvings further enhance the product's appeal. According to Mr. Thang, not counting the design concept stage, the entire process from creation to completion involves approximately 40 steps: wax modeling, mold making and casting, cooling and surface treatment, gold plating, drying, etc. "Every step requires experience and careful attention because a single mistake can mean starting over. The most difficult aspect of casting snake statues is how to bring out the life and soul of the statue while still maintaining a sense of familiarity," Mr. Thang said. For each snake model, this company produces 3,000 products to meet customer demand for Tet 2025. In particular, this company also produces two unique models of five-blessing yellow apricot blossoms and five-blessing yellow peach blossoms, hoping to create another unique symbol for the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake.
