Will Lionel Messi wear the number 10 shirt at Inter Miami?

Inter Miami appears to have had Lionel Messi's new shirt number leaked after the American team posted a birthday message for the Argentinian superstar on social media.

Lionel Messi officially turned 36 on June 25th. Inter Miami FC also sent birthday wishes to their expensive new signing on the team's Twitter account .

However, Inter Miami's post seems to have revealed the new jersey number Messi will wear when he joins the Major League Soccer (MLS) team.

Inter Miami posted an image of a black brick wall with the words "Feliz Cumplio" written in pink graffiti-style text, although the first "e" is missing. The "m" in the font is the same as on the club's emblem.

But the last two letters "io" were replaced with the number "10" and changed to white to draw attention.

This implies that Messi will wear his famous number 10 shirt when he plays for Inter Miami for the remainder of the 2023 MLS season.

Messi wore the iconic number 10 shirt for many years at Barcelona and continued to wear it as captain of the Argentina national team.

However, Messi was forced to wear the number 30 shirt when he joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) because Neymar held that number at the Parisian club.

The number 10 shirt at Inter Miami previously belonged to Messi's former Argentina teammate, Gonzalo Higuain, but the striker has since retired.

Inter Miami's president, David Beckham, also took to social media to wish Messi a happy birthday, expressing: "Let's go, my friend. A special year ahead."

Messi is expected to make his Inter Miami debut in the League Cup clash against Cruz Azul on July 21st.
