Liverpool reach agreement with Rodrygo, Isak deal gradually falls apart

Liverpool are accelerating in the transfer market as the Alexander Isak deal continues to stall, while Rodrygo has surprisingly agreed to a personal deal.

Liverpool are said to have reached personal terms with Rodrygo.

Despite breaking the transfer record in England to bring in Florian Wirtz, and completing other high-profile deals such as Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike, the Anfield team has not stopped.

Isak was the number one target for manager Arne Slot. The Swedish striker was said to be so keen on joining Liverpool that he refused to train and play friendly matches with Newcastle. However, Newcastle were too stubborn, so Liverpool quickly turned to Real Madrid's Rodrygo.

According to ESPN , "The Kop" contacted Rodrygo's representative and the two sides reached a preliminary agreement on personal terms. Journalist Siro Lopez confirmed: "Liverpool spoke with Rodrygo's side and the Real Madrid striker agreed to an unofficial personal offer."

The move comes after Luis Diaz's £65.5m move to Bayern Munich left a huge void in attack. Liverpool had hoped to use the money to invest in Isak, but Newcastle kept making things difficult. They rejected a £110m offer and demanded a whopping £150m.

Meanwhile, Rodrygo is valued at around £70m by Real Madrid - a more realistic fee. Negotiating with Rodrygo does not mean Liverpool give up on Isak, but the prospect of the port city team recruiting both at the same time is very unlikely.

Things are getting tense at Newcastle. Sky Sports revealed that Isak is keen on a move to Liverpool. The player is frustrated that the club has not kept their word on a pay rise or allowing him to leave. "Isak is angry and frustrated. Things are getting really bad," the source wrote.
